So sick of this that I'm going to kill one of my wordpress blogs- help me decide which one

Hi
Sorry if the title is a bit over dramatic but I'm trying to improve my headline copy skills.

My problem is as follows.
On one of my sites i originally downloaded wordpress twice, one in the root directory, and one in a directory I set up mydomain/blog. I have been posting blog entries in the latter.

I am getting sick of the complications this has caused and I wish to use just one w/p instalation.
I'm thinking of deleting w/p from the mydomain/blog directory.I will then create static pages
in w/p in the root directory and set up w/p in the root directory to also contain the blog folder.
I pretty much know how to do this I think. What I will end up with is w/p only in root directory containing static pages plus posts in /blog (one only). My problem is I don't want to lose all my blog posts to date when I delete the surplus intalation of w/p. Anyone know if there is an easy fix to save the blog posts?

Hope this makes sense and thanks for any help.
All the best,
Paul

Why not back up your blog/database from yourdomain.com/blog and restore that database to your root installation? That way you will not lose your old posts.

    WordPress Backups WordPress Codex

    Just follow the instructions there.

Well first of all why do you have 2 installations, why don't you use 1 install for you static pages and posts, what are you trying to achieve ?

Firstly you only need one installation of wordpress to have both posts (the blog bit) and static pages. Make sure you use WP 2.7 and that will happen automatically (it's what I do here)

In your WP admin area you should find "export" under tools in the left hand menu. This will backup and export all your posts. Then just use the corresponding "import" feature once you have set up your new installation of WP in the root directory.

        Thanks to all
        Rose,
I think your method will do the trick so I'll give this a go- thanks

I guess I didn't make it totally clear. I realise that i only need 1 instalation ( but when I first set up the blog I didn't know this)

May be i could have simplified the question by asking where do I find my actual blog posts in cpanel??

All the best and thanks again

Paul, the actual blog posts are in your MySQL database.

          ** EDIT **

You'll find them in the table wp_posts

You must first pick which of the blog you want to pursue. So that you don't need to be sick in chosing which of your blog to continue.
