Can I use youtube videos on my paid members site?

Hello,

I have a site that I am building that is for paid members. I am trying to get a wide variety of videos on this site and know that I can embed youtube videos on my pages.

My question: Is it legal to take a video that someone or even myself has uploaded to youtube and embed it on my members site?

I'm not selling the video to people, I'm just creating an organized page that has all the videos together making it easy for my members to find.

    If it is public on Youtube, then I see no reason for it to be illegal, especially if they allow embedding of the video. Now I am no lawyer, so take my comment with a grain of salt

      Hi chase8705,

      As curation is the latest thing on line, I can't see why that would be illegal (although I'm not a lawyer).

      It's more of a marketing problem. Because if your members are paying to belong to your site, they might question it if too many of the videos are just from YouTube or other publicly accessible places.

      But - provided you have a good percentage of your own original videos, not available elsewhere - then they should be content.

    Make sure the video is unlisted (not private as only you can see those vids when logged in!).

    If it's unlisted, no-one can find it unless they have the link... or are really lucky.

    I prefer to do a combo of that and using amazon S3.
