Selling a Quality Article Content Site (Fitness)

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of selling my website but I'm not really sure how. I've read a bit about Flippa on here, but that seems more geared toward IM sites. Mine has some great quality article content, most of which I'll include in the sale (there are just a few articles from my personal POV and featuring photos of me that I'll remove). I haven't done a great deal in the way of monetisation with it, but I think it has excellent potential. I get at least one email per week asking about sponsored links. I'm only considering selling it because I don't have time to update it and take it forward. Visitors numbers are not great because I haven't done anything with it for many months and it's a shame to leave it just sitting there! I think it would be ideal to find a buyer here in the UK as it has a UK URL and it would be kind of nice to know who's buying it.
Any ideas on price or platform for selling it? Here's the link: FITNESS ROCKS! | Fitness Rocks Thanks :-)

    Hi Julia

Are you really going to sell it? It is full of good content and your voice comes through in the posts, loud and clear. I think you might regret it in the future.

But if you really want to sell it I would do it through online contacts rather than using flippa.
    1. So mention it on a forum like you have here, but a forum in your niche.
    2. Also at networking events with other fitness people, have a prepared leaflet with "Established fitness website for sale" on it. Hand the leaflet out.
    3. Finally ask someone with a good list to promote the sale for a cut of the sales price.

Thanks Ken that all sounds very sensible and workable. And thanks for the compliment on the site. It is a good site and will be a shame for me to let it go, but I just don't have enough time to maintain it and I'd rather see someone else making good use of it than it "going to rust".

    This.

I think it's a good site with some good content, quite personal to you and potentially difficult to sell in mainstream ways.

I don't want to sound disparaging at all, but from the "sale" perspective, I suspect it has a number of really significant disadvantages: it's on a UK domain-name (though that could be changed, perhaps even without losing the benefit of any existing backlinks?); it's made from Drupal; its income is low (that's always the major value-determinant in a sale); its visitor numbers are low; and so on. Clearly it has potential, but all of these are factors which make it worth more to you than to anyone else, none of which exactly helps with a sale?

I agree with all of Ken's post, above.

Thanks Alexa, intelligent advice as always, appreciate the input. I'm sure you're right about all of those things, I'm not expecting to sell it for a lot of money, but if I could get something for it that would be a bonus in my pocket and, to be honest, one less thing to have to worry about. Hope you're doing well. :-)
