I would test that theory by first building a list of 1k or 10k and see if that $1 per subscriber still applies in these days, and more specifically, whether "you" are actually able to get a return of $1 per subscriber, rather than basing it on what you have heard many times over. In reality there are thousands of marketers who managed to build lists of 5,000+, but do not earn 5k or even $500. So I guess it all depends...

that much money would make me invest into something physical, something real, not just list building.

I'd invest in Haiti. Build an operations center there. Hire a bunch of workers and start making money.

I would look for swindlers on a forum to help me. That's always the best bet.

I prefer to use it to buy a physical store at mega metropolitan - $200,000
Buy inventory - $150,000
Inital cash for the company - $50,000
Rest - $100,000 for generating traffic with PPC, hiring writers for blogging, SEO expert -> toward to an opt in for building list. Target getting 50,000+ leads.

This requires a lot of research and is not as simple as A + B = C.

The buying apartment sounds like a good idea on paper if you do in a metropolitan area. For example I worked in a Manhattan residential building for a while where you could buy an aparment for roughly 700k to a million and charge 5k per rent easily (minus 1k maintenance and all bill included) so that's 4k pure profit per month.

It's also important to mention that roughly 10 people a day would come in and if there are apartment available for rent. With that said it sounds like a great investment, considering you will be, making money and the value of the apartment will keep going up (they don't really go down in good areas in NYC)

The problems start when you end up with bad tenants. For example in that particular building a lady with a child lived for over a half a year rent free before they were able to remove her legally from the building On top of that she messed up the whole apartment and the repairs would easily cost 20-50k to get it into the shape it has to be to rent for 5k again.

It's quite difficult and costly to actually get someone evicted in NYC, especially if the person has a child.

I personally would scale up my own business and stay away from new ventures until I can handle the costs.

I would keep that 500K for me , and never invest it

I would buy 10 more wind turbines. My grandchildren would love me even more.

I would create an advanced social network platform.

I always wanted to start a social network, so If I had 500k I would invest in a programming staff, project manager, and the overall design for the social network, this won't be some basic design you can buy for a couple hundred dollars, I would probably spend a good portion on having a professional design for my social network.

the project managers job would be to go around all the top social networking sites and write down the features, and the programmers job would be to integrate those features in my site, I would also have programmers to check code and tighten up security, then we would weed out all the features that we don't need.

of course Id use a portion of the 500k to promote it, assuming I can't reinvest that 500k, haha.

I would invest half in contemporary art, find up and coming young artists and really study the market. I know some folk who have made over 5000% ROI within 3 to 4 years.

The other half I would invest in a couple of brand websites that need investment for expansionand and can show potential for exponential growth.

with $500k, I will invest to online company with good business plan and make more cashflow... I think I wouldn't invest all of those $500k, I will invest in financial market too.. like stocks or fx.

Sure, If I have this amount of money, like most people's suggestion here. I would surely invest to a more tangible products/businesses other than investing to some schemes that you are not sure.

Overall, even though you have all the money to spend if you are not determined and hardworking enough. surely, almost anything won't work for that particular person..

If i had 500k i would leave it in the bank to earn interest and take some time off my day job.

$500k....like half a million!? Duh the obvious thing to do would be to put it in my pocket!! lol

I would keep 250k in the bank and use 125k to buy real estate and the remaining 125k to buy a well established brand's franchised + automated business ...

I would buy 2 nice flats, and start to rent them to have nice monthly income.
