Optimizepress 2 questions please

1. I like the look of optimizepress and from what i can see it's a theme in itself yes? It doesn't work with an existing theme, it is the theme yes?

2. How can you customize the look, make it look good? is it best to hire out the graphic design through an outsource site?

    Hi

Yes OP is a theme in itself and if you want to use it in conjunction with another theme you'll have to use a plugin or multisite.

As for whether you need a designer and where you'd get them from it would depend on you and your abilities. If you have no coding or design background then yes, you'd need to hire somebody. You can try one of the outsourcing sites or warriors for hire section.

You can basically change the header, footer and background. The default themes are ok and you can just change logo. Else you can outsource the work to minisite designers.

OP 2 will be completely new, from what i understand existing owners will get some kind of discount to buy the new version.
Just hope James does not follow the EVP2 guys and give existing owners what amounted to a slap in the face by offering a pitiful discount...

OptimizePress is an amazing Wordpress theme. I have been using it for a number of my sales pages and websites and the conversion rate is superb.

For customisation aspect of OptimizePress, you either have to know some coding skills or you can outsource the custom design to talented graphics designer.

                I love OptimizePress! =)

Check out the Optimize Press site, they have a video up showing you some of it's features. It looks much more flexible and versatile than the original.

I just looked at the video...it is saying "coming out July 2013". Is it just me or does it look like they just integrated lead pages into OP?

Yes, a wide variety of lead capture pages are definitely part of the new OP version 2. From the video "sneak peek" recently released, it looks like there's gonna be dozens of templates to choose from. To find out more, watch the video: The future of marketing sites... Introducing the New OptimizePress

Another place to stay on top of the latest news is the OP Facebook fanpage at: https://www.facebook.com/optimizepress?fref=ts

What's great is, the OP fanpage is very active with customer engagement. You can see regular update postings, make comments, ask questions, and even get "live" answers. How about that for service? Pretty cool huh!

        Cheers, and hope this helps

I Love Optimize Press and use it with alot of my projects... It is most definitely a theme and as far as I know will not work with other themes... About customizing the Look if you purchased or are purchasing OP then the Training Videos in the back office are very extensive and if you go through them you will be an OP master..

About the Graphics if your good at them then do it yourself if not I like using a site called GFX-1 they are very good, reasonably priced and the turn around on your order is FAST...

    As for your question #1.)
I asked Jonathan myself if I needed to purchase a theme such as Genesis to work with Optimizepress 2.0 and this is what he said:
"No Op is a stand alone theme you will not need any other additional themes when using OP2"

I also asked if Optimizepress 1 would still be available and this is what he said"
"Op is no longer available for purchase however we will still be supporting our current OP1 customers".

    Hope this helps.

Apparently not..they PROMISED me two weeks ago that it was going to be released today. And since they lied, I'm not going to purchase it now, out of sheer principle.

If someone literally promises you something and then don't follow through, it means you can't trust them. What else will they be lying about?

      Really unprofessional.

Hi Yaku! If I understand correctly, you want a thicker or narrower header.

In Admin, go to OptimizePress > Dashboard > Global Settings > Custom CSS (Sitewide).

CSS isn't mystrong point, but I believe you'll the following CSS. (Just change the number ("200") to whatever you want it to be.)
        .banner .logo img{width:200px}

You may have some use for the banner padding CSS, too. You can play around with it and change the numbers if you like. Mine is set as follows:
        .banner {padding: 5px 0px;}

To get OP2.0 the way you want it, you'll probably want to learn some CSS. OP2.0 is good as it is but, to get the most out of it, some CSS abilities can be really helpful.

You might check out W3Schools for some great free info.

Hey Yaku! I'm not entirely sure I follow.

So you want to: 1. change the header for a single page? Is that right?
Or did you want to: 2. set a different header for the blog rather than pages?

I get the impression that you were asking about 1, but I just want to make sure.

Do you want to just remove the for your landing page? If so, you can do to that by going to: The Page You Want to Edit > LiveEditor > Layout Settings > Header and Navigation. Then just select off.
That is what I have done, as I think a header will distract from the content of the landing page and it'll dilute my Call To Action. I'd rather have the customer focus on my CTA that worry about the links in my header. This also seems to be common industry practice, from the research I've done, for that specific reason.

Now, if you want some sort of colored banner section for the landing page after turning off your header, I would just use a row and select the color I wanted it to appear as for the background. You do that by creating a row. Then, select the button to edit the row. Then just change "Row Color Start" and/or "Row Color End," depending on what you want the colors to look like. From there, you can use Vertical Spacer elements or padding (in the row options, or in most elements' options) to adjust the width of the row. I prefer Vertical Spacers to padding, because I can see them and work with them easily. Padding is a bit less apparent when you're editing the page, so it's harder to manipulate, and it's hard to remember the various paddings you may have added to different pages when you have many pages. It also can take longer to adjust/remove if you change your mind and want to make changes.

Now, if you really, really want a header there, I'm not sure what to tell you. CSS isn't a strength of mine, but I did just try plugging in the CSS tweaks I furnished to you on a specific individual page. No changes, so I assume that doesn't work, and that you'll need something else. So, unfortunately, that's a bit beyond my skills.

That said, I don't think you necessarily need to hire a freelancer for something like that. I wouldn't. Instead, a more targeted thread here might be appropriate (I'm not sure if CSS discussion is regarded outside the scope of IM or not). Alternatively, you might throw a question out on the OptimizePress Forums, on the WordPress forums, or on a site like W3Schools or StackOverflow. Ultimately, depending on the complexity of your site, you may need a freelancer but, if your site isn't especially complex, you may not need one. OP also has some AWESOME tech support, if you get stuck. They might be able to provide you with some tips about that.

Little Tip: play around with the Custom CSS element. It's really, really, really useful at times. I used it to map a single image for two buttons, and I was also able to insert and alter certain things quicker on numerous pages (my site has about 50-60 pages) using Custom CSS elements than I would be able to with standard specialized elements.

      Thank you a lot tjg4th ,

but maybe i didn't explain the problem very weel

The problem was number 1 : change the header for a single page .

I would like to keep ON . i know the header 'll distract the customer but that landing page will be for google adwords so i need header with links.

So now, the problem is the header with link LOGO ecc dcc is big , i would like more or less the same pixel as optimizepress website .....

        Yaku,

I still think your best bet is probably going to be what I described. I'm not sure why you'd actually need (or want) the header with the nav menu for a landing page and, if you do, I'm not sure why you'd want it to deviate from your normal header (because you'd want it to match your page).

I'm going to drop you a private message with my email so we don't keep bumping this thread. I'll show you an example of what I've done on my site, and that might be helpful.

    Hi roley,

Yep, OptimizePress is both a theme, and a plugin for Wordpress if you already have a theme!

You may need a coder to use OptimizePress if you don't have a platform like Wordpress that you are working with. Although, if you do have a platform, then OptimizePress is easy to learn and use.

We did a short article on OptimizePress and it's functions... Check it out here:
