Do you Only Google? Or Do You Also Bing, Yahoo, Ask Or Other?

I was reading something today regarding most people actually using the name Google when referring to searching for something online. As in: "let me Google that and get back to you". Rarely if ever, do you hear someone say "Let me Bing, Yahoo, or ask that".

Do you only use Google to search online? If so, why? Is it out of habit? or do you feel that Google actually has the most user friendly interface and offers the best search results? Do you use another search engine such as Bing, Yahoo, Ask Or Other? If so, why?

LOL I just Google'd Bing to see what it's like...

It's definitely habit, but also that it's integrated with Chrome (of course) as well as my Gmail, G+, and YouTube accounts which I use heavily.

There was some infographic floating around that stated people would prefer to use Google over Bing. It also stated that people preferred Bing's search results labeled as Google's. It's a branding and habit thing.

I'm not sure I've heard of those other sites you're talking about... lol kidding but you get my point

I don't really use Bing or Yahoo just because I'm used to Google interface more. I can't really say which one is better because I don't have the need to use others. On the other hand I much prefer Adcenter and Adwords for PPC...

On another note going with what you said about people "googling" everything and even saying that it reminded me of a funny quote I saw somewhere online.

It stated that Bing should change it's name to Bang, so people that use it would be able to say "I just banged [insert any name or thing you're searching for]"

      lol that is funny.

To answer the question, I use others as well. I use G lot less than I used to.

It's easy to rank high for Yahoo and Bing. EMD's still work, keyword density, and submitting site maps to yahoo and bing still work. Log in to Bing's control panel and analyze your site stats via their interface, and learn from them what you can do to improve your website score, and website rankings.

Very good point ... Bing has a lot less traffic, but if those SEO techniques work there (for now!) then it might actually help you rank ...

A while ago I saw a report about the statistics for Google, Yahoo and Bing.
Yahoo has the most searches but it is because it takes more to find what you want. Google has a little less but each search is more accurate. Bing doesn't even come close.
So Google is the outright winner. I do say that I "Google" things when I search, as do others and everybody understands what it means too.

Google get the most quality search result with their algorithm ranking. Google have the largest users in the world where they do have more data compare to other search engine.
So when you search for something , ofcourse you will choose to use Google to search 1st.
Even same to marketer where they know most of their users using Google and they will spend more time on Google SEO instead of other search engine.

Think about why there are so many IM products out there that promisses you to be on 1st page of Google ? No body offers a product to put you on the 1st page of Yahoo.

So at the moment Google IS the search engine number 1 if you like it or not most peoples search with Google and this is worldwide.

Yes I also use Google in first place for my searchings

For this time, I use Google only as search engine for searching anything on the internet. And also generate traffic from it for making money online.

Bing actually has an advertising campaign where it has people do a blind comparison of their search results and Google's. Naturally their ads show people choosing them over Google. I did it on their own site and chose Google in all but one.

It's a little of both for me. Google is so readily available and integrated into everything so I naturally go there first. But when I do occasionally use another search engine I usually don't find what I need.

    Google.

I don't even THINK about other sites.

I gotta hand it to them, their marketing strategy has been nothing short of absolutely BRILLIANT.

Control search, and you control the internet.

The other search engines never thought about it quite like that.

So when Google came and blew them out of the water, they could only scramble to play catch up.

Through the introduction of "free" services such as Gmail, Chrome, and now Android, Google is so integrated with the idea of search that I can't see them losing a foothold with search anytime this decade.

I think most people start using google because they know it because of how big it is. What happens then is it becomes a habit and they market so well in terms of making it your homepage then it becomes what you know.

It is baby steps and people then think the only correct and accurate search will come from there. However I have used the other ones especially BING and it worked just fine - lol

There was a similar topic here about a year ago. I just did a search and the results only went back about 7 months, so I can't find it, but several people said that they prefer Bing. Of course it's not like that so far in this topic.

I did once get frustrated trying to find something on Google and tried Bing. First page was much better than the results on Google. But I don't use Bing much.

The problem with Bing/Yahoo is that they are still way behind in terms of optimized algorithms. A lot of garbage is in the first page and the SERP layout up until not so log ago looked spammy as it was crunched and used thicker letter which made the bold keywords stand out in a bizarre way.

Sure, Google has made its mistakes but I'm actually happy that we have G as a SE.

I've noticed the same thing with previous websites, I'll typically show up first in google, but the initial traffic would come from long tail keywords from yahoo and bing. Considering google has the most advanced and updated algorithm of all search engines would explain why older methods work easier for other search engines than google.

I always use google, 100% of the time, considering that's what the vast majority of people use
