What are some ways to ensure the webpage loads quickly

I am helping my client on a video salespage. He wants to make sure that the page loads quickly and the video starts playing quickly. He also has audio samples of the product he is selling set to appear after a particular time in the video.

So this page will have a video file plus a number of small audio files.

What are some things we can do the page loads and the video plays quickly?

If the site is on wordpress I use the W3 total cache plugin to make the site load faster.

Thanks Troy, we currently use the Super Cache plugin and yes this helps. I have seen some salespage where the videos take an eternity to load while some play rightaway. Is this because of the video file size?

Make sure you've got good quality, fast hosting. If your hosting is crap you can do all the optimization you want it won't help much.
Then make sure the page isn't too heavy (you can use FireFox's developer tools for that, search in the add-ons) and doesn't incorporate too many scripts. And finally test it with various computers / browsers / internet accesses.

Do you use Facebook ? Then you can make money just by inviting people to a Facebook group ! It's called the Instant Income System. How cool is that?

This is one thing that very few people talk about.

You can play around with your code all day long, but if you're on shared hostgator or bluehost hosting you're site isn't going to load as fast as you want it to.

If you're using wordpress, I'd recommend using WP Super Cache. I was using the WP Total Cache but it was causing a lot of problems for my blogs (and Hostgator) strangely. WP Super Cache works like a charm - especially when configured with the exact instructions that HostGator recommends.

Create your videos in "flv" or "swf" format. These are flash file formats - and they are small files, but still retains the video quality. This is much better than uploading AVI and WMV videos on your site.

If you will have other images on your site besides the graphics, minimize the amount of graphics you have on your site. For graphics and other images, save them in "jpg" format, and if you MUST have some sort of definite image quality... save your graphics and images in "png" format.
