Some Questions Regarding Forum Traffic and Website Flipping

Hi,

I wonder when selling a website, is it possible and makes sense to sell the website with the forum-accounts that are used to drive traffic to the site?

I think since the forum posts etc. will be somewhat personal, and the "networking" part will be very personal, then selling something that's too personal will not be so much for the "buyer",

But on the other hand I think since the forums will be a traffic channel too, then they'll be worth selling.

Does it make sense to sell forum accounts, or include the forum accounts when selling a website?

If I am not mistaken, this will go against the TOS of pretty much every forum, just so your aware.

You are absolutely right ... it makes no sense to sell your account which is your personal property ....
But its becoming common now like selling facebook fan pages etc ... even i have been contacted by a person who was looking to buy a WF account ... I was really amazed to talk to him and he told me that people usually are selling it ...

In my opinion its really absurd ...

The idea behind this is to buy an account with high number of posts and use it to post WSO's ...

          still seems stupid to me,
first why any well known member here will "risk" his reputation to help another person that isn't ready to buy a cheap 37 $ membership
second, there are many marketer here that have less than 40 posts and their WSO are very good,

this gives an idea about the services that those people will offer

Don't try that here or they'll just end up with a banned forum account. I imagine it's against forum TOS for just about any forum.

Even it's not allowed to sell a forum account, one person can well change his NickName and/or every other registration details (like name, last name, address, email etc.) to transfer the ownership of the forum,

    or I'm taking it wrong?

I have to say that the forum accounts would have to much personal attachment to try and sell them...even though it seems somewhat wrong. It is best to just do what everyone is saying and not do it at all.

So it's not wise to use yor business' name as nick-name when registering on forums?

Actually, it's not wise to be discussing selling forum accounts on this forum at all.

I think it depends on how you sell them.

The accounts could be seen as transferable assets of a business.

If Google (or Fox) bought the Huffington Post, then I think the Huffington Post Twitter, YouTube and Forum accounts could be transfered to the new ownership.

Google (or Fox) wouldn't have to close all the various Huffington company accounts around the Internet and open new ones.

There have been many small companies with accounts that have continued to be owned and used by the new owners after the company is sold.

Here's our take on it: Get caught buying or selling accounts registered at this forum and we nuke your existing account(s), and any we can trace back to you in the future.

There was a gentleman from India who advertised on another forum offering to buy WF accounts. He had been selling WSOs here for quite a while, and was not happy when we nuked his primary account and started digging out accounts with suspicious connections.

This happens, on both sides of the formula, more than most people know. It's one reason that using proxies and VPNs to log in here automatically counts against you when we have to look into issues.

    An example:

Let's say WarriorForum have a member with profile name ABC, and he owns a business named ABC (ABC is just as example, a lot of members here use his business' name as his profila name)

And let's say he wants to sell his business, and the new owner doesn't want him to use the business's name.

Then he's allowed to transfer the forum account, or change his forum profile name?

      Abdullah,
Then he's allowed to transfer the forum account, or change his forum profile name?
He could easily change the name on his profile. All it would take would be a PM to me, or a note through the help desk, explaining the circumstances. Most of the time, we'd be happy to change it for them.
