Automated Social Bookmarking?

Hi there

Can you recommend a good social bookmarking tool?

Do any of you still use onlywire? Is it still good?

Onlywire is hit and miss for me. Sometimes it bookmarks and sometimes it doesn't, so I've been using socialmarker.com. It works great. Not automated, but it's free. If you want automation that actually works, you're going to have to pay for it.

    • There are a couple of these out there, but please let me warn you. If you use these incorrectly or use them to often they will hurt your site alot more than they will help.

Search Engines look for these types of things, they look to see how often these links are generated, how often these things are book marked, and if they are happening to quickly then they will actually receive penalties and will hurt your traffic.

Now, that is from a search engines stand point, that is not including what book marking sites will do. If these are used wrong then the sites will ban you at the same time. You need to make sure that if you are doing this, that you log in to these same site you are using and book mark other sites as well, so that the system and network is being used as it was intended and not for marketing purposes only.

Whilst I've heard points similar to this, what's stopping your competition using Bookmarking Demon or something similar to spam all the bookmarking directories with your sites links in them?

I've always been led to believe that Google won't punish you for anything that your competitors could be doing..

Because of this, I think it would be more likely that they would just not pay attention to most of those links if they came across as spam rather than punishing your site down the rankings.

OnlyWire - Very Limited (some use it and like it)
SocialMarker - Slow, Bulky, not user friendly (some use it and like it)

The tools online for bookmarking is very limited but there is more to bookmarking then just tagging your website. Now some try to scare others and say do not do it too often and etc etc... Blah!!! There is no search engine going to know how you did your bookmarking and the fact is a few hundred links they will not even notice much less consider it spam..

Now do not take that the wrong way because there are certain ways to "properly" bookmark your sites and there are bad ways... I have noticed from many questions I get about bookmarking that many just assume you can go and bookmark page after page after page on their site, this is the wrong way for sure..

Many of these bookmarking sites also have web 2.0 features built in, they are there for a reason and making use of them will get you far better results vs just plugging your own pages.

As far as current software in the marketplace.. It will beat every one of them and from what I hear it is updated several times a month each and every month.

Unfortunately negative SEO is possible, of course it depends on the age of the domain etc etc, but google does accept collateral damage let's just say (not sure if it can be done through sloppy social bookmarking)

I haven't been able to figure out how long the sale on SocialBot will last but here are the details -

Before I go, here's the deal - go to Incansoft | Experience The Difference Today! and for whichever products you want, use Coupon Code 48HOURS. That will get you the discount for $7.77...

        ildarius,
I'm using Onlywire's paid service and I also have SocialBot. I prefer the former...but I believe Big Mike just did a big update that may have me looking back.

The main reason I like OnlyWire is because it has the top social sites and nothing more.

I actually did a test using only Onlywire on a brand new blog and was able to get it indexed and ranked for a keyword in under 5 hours. Not too bad.

        Hope this helps,

You bet! I appreciate tests which are precise (don't like idle theories).

How long ago was it that you got it ranked and have you maintained the ranking? Btw you might be interested in a test I ran on Linkvana (created links using ONLY linkvana and checked the results several months down the line), don't want to post the results here to avoid hot discussions. Let me know I'll PM them to you.

    ildarius,
The test was run in February. The site has maintained and improved rankings since then...but not all datacenters show the improvements yet...

One thing I am doing differently...and may be affecting my results, is NOT using 1 title, description for all the sites...I am using a different title, description, and link text (as well as different usernames at all sites) to try and make it look as natural as possible.

Eventually, I'll need to just make this entire process a macro...which will make the "spinning" aspect so much easier.

Hey, I love stats...PM me anything you can on Linkvana. I'm interested.

    Thanks!

I really don't see the point of an automated social bookmarking tool.

    Why?

Because for social bookmarking to drive traffic to your site the bookmark has to be picked up by other bookmarkers, and you can't get that from an automated tool!

It depends. Some people will use bookmarking purely for the backlinks to increase your search engine rankings.

Where as others will use them to network with other people and drive direct traffic to their sites.

It really depends what your goal is through social bookmarking but there definitely is a need for automated tools.

I purchased Bookmarking Demon yesterday and so far it looks very powerful.

Huh ???? I bookmark other people's sites all the time... Matter fact I have done well over 330,000 in the last 2 months.

You gain backlinks no matter if someone else picks up your bookmark or not.. It's just if others do it it gives you more of an authority link and the more authority the better ranking.

If you participate in the bookmarking site then all the better... You can still take part in the bookmarking site and use automative bookmarking at the same time.
