Upsells and Downsells Question?

I`m using optimize press. Not sure if it has something built in for this.

But would like to offer an upsell before they purchase through clickbank and a downsell if they decide to leave without buying anything.

1. Have you found this effective?
2. Do you know if Optimizepress can let you do this or do you need some plugin for wordpress that can handle downsells and upsells?

Thanks

The up-sale would be easy, it would just be another page after they hit the buy button on ClickBank. (Assuming this is your own offer?)

For a down-sale you should check into using something like an exit pop.

Not sure exactly how you imagined the down-sale working?

Ah excellent ok so simple for upsell.

Downsell I wanted to have this happen

They are on your sales page and they either

      A. click back button
      B. Click the X in the corner

Upon doing so a little window appears on top and the page behind changes to new page (offerpage)

      Little window says

Are you sure. This page is asking you to confirm you want to leave - There is an offer you may want to see

Buttons are: leave page stay on page

If they hit leave, they leave. if they hit stay on page they can now view the downsell page which is now shown behind.

    I hate downsells.

They are a truly fantastic way to devalue what's you've tried so hard to build up.

    Makes no sense to me.

    Don't do it.

      Yes and no.

      I mean

Some people buy on price and some buy on value.

The people leaving may have arrived, want it badly but can't come up with whatever the amount is. They go to leave and may never return OR you get them for like $20 off, it seems a no brainer! $20 and a new customer or nothing.

That actually isn't true! I took a couple sales classes, and they sad that you should NOT try to sell something really! You look like you are for the sale, etc.... What you should do is offer three options.

Assuming that you have done things right, there should be a CLEAR CHOICE!

That one will be the one you suggest. There would be one with a lower likelyhood of being rejected, and an upscale one just in case.

A good example HERE might be a TV. Maybe you are suggesting a 20" LCD screen, with DVR, HD, etc... The high end may be larger, and have PIP and dual channel recording, but cost more. The lower end may be 15" and lack DVR or HD.

It is a WIN WIN if properly done. The customer gets a good deal, and can't much blame you, and you get paid. But if the deal on the 20" is good enough, you will lose NO business.

The ones that offer the SAME for lower price after you declined just look like scams. When word gets out, you may lose ALL the extra money.
