Over a year now, I have tried making a review site where users publish their reviews and they get points and ultimately get paid cash in exchange for points.

I am starting to give up and here's why: users write crap reviews, but I have to admit, some are good. But when they write good reviews, it is not profitable at all.
I can't afford to pay for all these small petty reviews so I keep the pay really low. Well, there are people that still do it, but again, don't know how to monetize from it.

90% of the money that comes in is because of the articles I write myself. Linkshare is sending me a $1700 check bc of the review I wrote for an affiliate.

Also, I am running out of ideas to get traffic to my site. I use to advertise on Craigslist and that brought in a lot of traffic.
I have a few articles #2 and #3 on google, that brings in some. I have 535 fans on Facebook.
But I'm still not getting the traffic I want, any ideas?

  • You have 1 subscriber on your YouTube channel. (Possibly you?)

Maybe you could start there and rethink using your Youtube account in a more productive manner?

Make review videos, grow your subscriber base, etc...

O wow! you're right. I made the homepage youtube vid like a yr ago and just put it back up the other day.
Hard thing about the video is that it takes a lot of time and you need the actual product. But that is something that I think i need to pursue

Try to increase your posting frequency. However much you are posting, try doubling it. It might be hard to pull off and time consuming but if you want to survive it might be necessary to do. Have read this for blog posting from Blogging for Dummies:

1- Moderate growth: one post daily
2- Aggressive growth: at least three posts daily, with two hours in between each post
