I don't have all the answers, that is why I am here, but I am looking to share my experience and understanding of the topic, and hopefully others can do the same.
One of the issues that I have faced is that often my strategy has been to become the lowest cost provider. I have made good money mind you. In one summer as an undergrad I was making $300-$400 a day just from the local Craigslist, and had people come and literally demand that I take their money (free WSO on this under development). But I was still offering the cheapest price on Craigslist.
The same situation continues today. Although I know I have better products than my competitors, they routinely charge many times more than I do and the customers don't seem to notice. Am I missing something? Are they just better at advertising? Better at conversions?
I am tired of working harder and making less than others!
So here is the issue, what is the missing ingredient that I am missing?
