I like squadron's recommendation. I had a product and built a great list through relevant forums...it took awhile but after I built it up..I was consistently making money each month from that list.

Kind of depends if you're looking to use free methods or paid. I think paid methods are the way to go if your wanted HIGHLY targeted subscribers. Not so much with solo ads but Google and Fb allow you to decide exactly who sees your offer.

Today, in 2013 social media is definitely a good choice

Offer something of REAL value to the people you want to sign up to the list. If you want people to opt in to your list you had better offer them something pretty damn good to do it.

Most people go for an ebook, but it can be anything.

If you don't have the time to develop something to give away to list subscribers, try and source something that is sharable under an open licence or pay someone to creating something of value.

You can pay to get your list sign up form in front of traffic, but if the incentive stinks they're not going to be signing up!

The best free method hands down is running giveaways/contests. Granted, it's free, so you're definitely not going to build a 100% targeted list, but it definitely helps to kickstart things.

Free! gifts and content that is of value will draw attention not to mention traffic, which will ultimately grow email list once you have them sign up...using a opt-in form in your websites sidebar....

I recommend buying solo ads to grow your email list. I think that's the easiest method I know. But of course, you need to invest. There are a lot of people selling click solos. I can help you out. Hope that helps!

There are many different ways to drive traffic to your website and you will want to make sure that you are focusing on mastering one method at a time. I will master a mixture of paid and free traffic generation methods so that there will be multiple source of traffic coming to my squeeze page.

Once the flow of traffic is consistent already, I will start to focus on the conversion of my squeeze page and the sales conversion of the product that I am promoting. This is what I will personally do

What everyone else said. Also think about doing a JV with someone who has a stout list in your niche - do a webinar with them, etc.

Advertising. Run targeted ads all over the place online and you will get lots of targeted hits from the people in your niche. Free marketing works too, but it takes a while to start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with this. Start with PPC, then branch off to blog advertising, forum advertising.... and don't neglect SEO.

Solo ads are a good way to get some quick subscribers reasonably cheap by building a simple squeeze page .

I think that using the forums to get subscribers is really the best way to go, especially the Warrior Forum, or any other forum that is directly related to your niche.

The reason for this is beause the forums have tons and tons of traffic, and if you have a signature file on those forums then it can be displayed along with your posts for everybody to see. If they click on any of the links inside the signature file and one of those links leads to your squeeze page, then you can get new subscribers.

However, using a combination of marketing methods to build your list is really what you should do. That is; use forum marketing along with writing and submitting articles, commenting on blogs related to your niche, joining giveaway events to build your list and more.

Just because the methods are free doesn't mean that they don't work because it really doesn't matter if you pay or not. Just because you pay for leads doesn't mean that they'll join.

A matter of fact, paying for leads is a huge gamble that you wreally don't want to take unless you absolutely have tons of money just to throw away.

.....already said here, but offer value, give something for free.

People are a bit more wary now of giving out email addresses, so it has to be a good trade for them.

    Kind regards

For me - It's got to be Solos Ads.
Yes you have to do your homework and test, test, test the solo ad sellers, but it certainly pays off.

I give away free stuff. WP plugins, scripts, etc. Everyone loves free. You just have to be careful because sometimes you end up with a non buyers list. In that case you give a product away for almost free. like $1.99
