Commission for selling for diamond rings

A client of mine is a retailer of diamond engagement rings. The average cost of a ring amounts to ~$3000. The range is between $1000-$7000. SEO takes time, and PPC is expensive and risky.

What strategies would you recommend for fast sales? We talked about setting up an affiliate program; what offers should the program have in order to be popular among affiliates? What would be a good commission rate?

Thanks in advance

  • Somewhere between 5% (the low side) and 10% is what other diamond ring affiliate programs offer online. If you want to capture affiliates go higher than that.

Check out the competition and see what they are doing.

I know there are other affiliate programs out there, but if you check linkshare and commission junction, you should find a couple of diamond sellers.

Does your client has a unique way of doing things? Anything that sets them apart from the competition?

What does your current competition do, and can it be done better?

I think this is an area full of opportunities - the girlfriend wants the ring they want, and you'd possibly want to see it on, and be able to change your mind. Also nice to be able to have a custom ring made on, based on simple designs - is there any possibility to do some added value, so that the items themselves will sell themselves much easier?

My site makes 80% of it's income through diamond sale affiliate marketing. it's a review site for everything, but I have a few diamond reviews that lands 2nd or 3rd in google. The affiliate I use pays my 10% of sales.
If you want quick sales, you have to be more aggressive than that. not many publishers are gonna want to risk work to a company they never heard before if they are paying the same as other retailers.
Your friend is going to have to take some risk to get his name out there
