What do you think of this: Fiverr Seller

I purchased some service at fiverr and when I was about to submit the details after payment, there is something that says

"PLEASE DO TYPE
"I agree have seen and promise not to leave bad review"
ELSE CANCEL IT"

I did not reply with such message and instead, I told him to do what I paid for and if I am satisfied, I will leave positive feedback. Funny, it's been 5 days and I hear nothing.... I really find his message funny... It's like he is desperate asking people not to leave negative feedback. He has 2 negative feedback out of more than 90 positive...

What do you think of a seller like that?

That's crazy. The quality of the work should be enough to encourage people to leave a good review.

Lol, I will do anything for $5. Even forcing their customer to leave positive review. Lol

I think it's poor English - maybe he thinks that people leave him back feedback and he doesn't deserve it, which might happen if there is a communication problem, due to the poor English.

Someone who is rubbish would surely not be so stupid as to alert you to the fact that you can give a bad review, as you're likely as you are doing, to expect poor service. But who knows, right?

He wants your written word that if you are not satisfied with his services, you will still not be entitled to leave an honest review? Seems to me that he is playing safe and knows for a fact that he may not be upto the task. Why not look around, not all of them could be that bad.

Wow thats kind of crazy! I think he's going to loose a lot of sales that way. If he already has 90 positive reviews and two negative reviews that shouldn't hurt him at all. I hope he learns and changes that so he doesn't loose out on more business.

Actually, I think it encourages bad reviews more than prevents them. I'd say screw the gig and leave a bad review if he didn't deliver it as advertised. I might even report the gig to fiverr. Forcing people to leave a review whether they're happy with the service or not is wrong.

There are many others doing the same ..... others usually give incentive to get a positive review like i will do XYZ more if you give me positive review ...

But the important thing is that there is service is crap so they have to opt for these things ....

  • I've used Fiverr a lot (mainly for making videos) and I've never come across anyone doing that before. Sounds dodgy to me, I'd try a different gig.

I've never seen something like this before on Fiverr, and I would never agree to such a statement. You only get positive feedback if people like your gig/service/product.

      • Report him to Fiverr Customer Support.

They will not like the fact he's telling people to cancel his gigs if they don't agree upfront to leave a positive review. And why should you have to put up with this nonsense after you've gone to the effort of finding a gig to buy?

He's not long for the Fiverr world anyway but this tactic will hasten his demise.

It's a sign of the times I think. People are desperate not to get bad reviews and will do anything to prevent it, same goes for Ebay.
I bought something on ebay for $8 and said there was a slight problem: they cancelled the transaction and refunded without being asked, obviously to prevent me leaving a less than 5 star review...

  • Definitely needs to be reported. Glad you did!

I am a seller on there and I earned ALL my positive reviews without having to guilt trip or resort to measures like that. It's bad practice to do that. Asking for an honest review is one thing... something like that is just sickening.

I have ordered services from Fiverr on several occasions and have had excellent service. This guy does sound like he desperate for business. I wouldn't purchase service from someone who asked me to do such a thing, their service must be awful to request a positive reply.

    Hello Adie,

90/92 = 97.8% positive - so, over 97.8% positive should enable him to net many positive reviews. Why he would post such a message would not help him. It certainly would give me pause if I seen such a message.

    Take care,

hmmm interesting. Definitely seems deceptive. The poor grammar isn't working on his side either. Hope he delivers for ya though. Personally I think if you are providing a good, legitimate service you don't have to ask for a positive review. Happy customers will freely give one.

Most of the time, yes. Not always though.

I always over-deliver & do exactly what the description says, but a lot of people won't bother to leave any review at all.

They just let it wait 3 days to auto-complete & never come back to it.

So what I did, was I started putting this at the end of my delivered work text.

Ever since, the reviews literally started coming in for pretty much every order:

"If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me, and as always, please be sure to leave positive feedback once you are satisfied with your purchase!"

Some people just need a reminder that they have the ability to leave a review.

After several days he finally responded...

    My earlier message:

I want to cancel this order. I realized that I am not going to agree with such atrocious demand. People leave feedback because they like your service ; not being forced. Please cancel this order. Thank you
    His response just now:

actually there are many spammer around here these days who purchase gig just to pull down rating. That's why show sample report and actually report would be 100% similar but with your links and I think it is fair because I am showing you the work in advance then why I penalized for bad review hope you understand. Thanks
.... and I don't understand what he means..

It sounds like he is concerned that unethical "spammers" order gigs for the sole purpose of leaving a negative review to undermine the gig and drop the seller's ranking. Maybe competitors? Is it really worth $5 to do that?

He also seems to think, since he is showing you exactly what you will get in advance, that there is no reason to be disappointed and leave a negative review.

But there are a number of factors that could cause a negative review even if what you get is what you expected.

It's funny, sellers complain that they get unfair negative reviews hurting their business.

Buyers complain that sellers get negative reviews removed by Fiverr support simply by asking.

Spend $5 and find out! With that many positive reviews, either everyone has contracted to leave a good comment, or the gig is really pretty good. $5 is not much to risk to find out if you think you might need this gig from time to time. I would not spend a lot of time worrying about it all that much. Besides, if you don't get good service, go ahead and leave a bad review.

Exactly. The more reviews the gig has, the higher the chance it is LEGIT. So take a leap and spend the $5.

$5 isn't much money here in the US, but in other parts of world it can be the equivalent of 10 to 20 times as much.

Adie is not in the States, and I think it is worth about 10 times as much where Adie is.

I swear, one of these days I am going to just start a fiverr gig that says "I will let you leave a negative review about work you have paid someone else for and the review got deleted for $5"

Would probably make $100 a day with that.

This is really a bad example of selling. Though its good to request the buyer to leave feedback (but cant force) its upto buyer what he thinks about the service he got.
I also ask for my clients to give feedback as its food for us. But I only ask after completing the work successfully and let it to client what he think about my service/communication.
