Do you think it would be easier to create a sub folder on my website and geo-target the sub folder or would it be better to buy a .com.UK domain name and create a copy of my website there?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Patrick

    Hi Patrick

My offline UK based business has 2 websites. one .com and one .co.uk. I only supply to the UK and a small part of it at that. For some reason the .co.uk domain has the lions share of traffic and responses.

I therefore think that a local domain is better when you market to a specific geographical location

    Don't if that helps

Thanks for the heads up Kenj.

So I guess I'll go with both.

      Much appreciated!

I would agree I have used .co.uk domains for UK specific products and .com when I want to target a larger audience.
.co.uk domains are also far cheaper than .com domain names

Have you considered the question of 'duplicate content'? I'm not an authority, but I've heard that it can lead to a penalty. You can set up a 301 permanent redirect on one site to send traffic to the other, I think this is a way to avoid the duplicate content problem.

I'd also go for a permanent redirect.
