How did I get a PM from a user with 0 posts?

I thought you couldn't PM anyone until you had like 10 or 50 posts?

I just got a spam from a user with 0 posts.

    This is no longer so. It changed in November/December of last year, when the forum started charging $10 for membership. (Can't really be taking $10 from folk and then not letting them use the private message facility at all, I suppose? Such "registered members" can send 5 private messages per hour, or something like this, and that restriction is lifted for War Room members, as mentioned above).

    (Post-counts can also sometimes not quite be what they appear, anyway, because posts in the Off Topic and WSO Forums aren't counted toward the total displayed).

    They can (and should) be "reported" just like spammy posts on the board. Please click on its little red triangle, write the word "spam" in the box that opens and report it to the moderators. It helps all of us.

    If you join the war room your limit is 500 messages. So you have plenty of room to store and save/delete as necessary.
