Sales Conversion numbers and How to Improve?

Hi all !
Would love to get some feedback/improvements that I can make to my work... I love IM and I want to learn more!

Would like to know what are the standards in the industry on Sales conversion rates ?
I believe my landing page and optins are good, but what I need to work on (and i guess its a continous thing for many people) is how to convert to sales better.

Do most sales come from the Landing Page (as usually this is a Free offer) or is it through your list ? And if so, how much percentage should i expect to realize that my strategy needs to change !

thanks a million

  • I dont think there is a fixed standard rate.
It varies from people to people... though I might be wrong... but this what i heard in internet marketing conference in Kiev few months ago..
  • Well..you're the only one who can know your conversions, where most of the sales come from etc..

But in order to do that, you'll need -

    To know the basics (duh)

To track everything (I track 95% of things, lazy, maybe?)

You can use AdtrackzGold for your tracking, great tool.

I'm sorry for giving you the most general answer you can get
(besides "learn marketing"), but I simply can't answer that questions for ya

    You know your business better,
and yes, you have a business already.
  • thanks TomYevsikov! I dont have an issue tracking my numbers, what I need to know is what is a good number and ways on improving Sales/conversiosn.
Do you make most of your sales from SP or email list.. how do you usually improve sales !?
  • I think that I make ALL of my sales from Sales Pages..lol.

    How do I Improve them?

I stick to the basics, track the results, make changes, ask for professional opinions (copywriters, my mentor, email marketing experts), see what works and stick to it, and tweak the stuff that didn't work so good.

basically, I track my results and work on what I know and have.
  • ok cool thanks, so you give a freebie and then take them to another sales page..?
  • Conversion rates will differ depending on niche. You can't really ask "how many people do i have to get before i get a sale". The average conversion rate by leading people straight to your sales page is around 1/2% to 1%. With an email list, you can see that jump to 3% to 5%. But yes, most sales comes from your email list. So i suggest you sign up to aweber, get a squeeze page, and start driving traffic to your site.

    • I love reading posts like this! My conversion rate is now fairly consistent at just over 2%, all from my sales page - no sign ups 'cause I don't do them. I am not your average marketer, I just sell my book on its merits.

  • got the list thanks !! Just wondering how numbers should be and how to improve upon it ... so any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

    thanks!!!!!
  • I really depends on what your selling and who you are selling it to. It varies quite a bit from niche to niche.

The quality of the copy can also make a huge difference in conversions as well as the perceived value of your product.

If you want some feedback on what you have feel free to shoot me a pm. I get a kick out of finding way to increase conversions. (I know sad hobby right lol)
