Site Flip Experts-This is for You

I am ready to flip my site at Digital Point Forum. It is not a fantastic site, just unique content because I am learning the ropes of site flipping. I actually used free web templates for the html pages and WP free theme for the blog.

In all, I have 12 articles for the html pages and 7 articles for the blog. It is "flip website niche". I need your thoughts and advice on:

How much do you think I should conservatively flip the site?

What are the precautions and checks I should look out for in a bidder or prospective buyer?

If I use Paypal, what checks should I conduct to avoid a chargeback, refund or buyer using hacked paypal account?

Please you should offer critical advice on ways to improve my website if you think my content is good enough to fetch me more money. I am walking on a tight financial budget. That is really why I used free theme and template for this soon-to-be-flipped site. I intend to plough back all my profits to get custom themes in my subsequent ventures.

Here are the site and blog

Thank you

Just my 2 cents worth - the template is very very plain, the site template almost looks like the standard one that comes with Wordpress. I know you said you're on a budget, but there are a lot of free templates out there that I think would look better.

I would maybe add some Adsense across the top of the page on the site, there just doesn't seem to be much on there.

It's hard to say how much you'd get for the site, I don't sell on Digital Point I usually sell on Ebay or Sitepoint. A site like this I'd put on sitepoint but I really think I'd use a different template, you need to make it appealling to the eye and stand out from the normal to really make good money with it.

You can't avoide chargebacks I don't think, but thankfully they really don't happen that often.

You don't need a lot of money to jazz up your site. Choose a theme that will allow you to utilize a custom header. There are tons of folks on DP that will do a custom header for cheap.

I would opt for something like the Flexibility theme. It is free and you can do a lot with it as far as color scheme and making it look nice goes. You can also easily add a custom header. You can have the opt in as a static placement in the top sidebar.

I haven't really done anything with my blog but you can check it out to see the layout and what I am talking about.

If you made the eCover for that product on the blog, you need to make the background layer of the image to match the background of the site it is being placed on. It looks a lot better when you do that.

You can also add more content. More content will make your site a lot more valuable. You also need to be doing extensive SEO for the site, such as social bookmarking, backlink building, etc. More backlinks equal more value.

Also if you can have the site making money, that will definitely add value to your site.

Basically a site that has PR, Traffic, SEO, Revenue, and looks half way decent will make your site sell.

I would also stay away from DP. DP is for buying sites... not selling sites. Sell a site and you won't make much on there. You really need to get your site on SitePoint to make good money from the sale.

If you can't afford the money for the listing, then you need set some cash aside to pay for the listing. It is always better to put the extra effort in.

One plus is that you have pretty good domain name.

Do your sites already have income? It doesn't really matter what they look like as much as the income proof.

I agree that Paypal can be iffy but it is generally used for sites that are selling for about 1K and under... for more expensive sites you will just have to go with a safer bet like Escrow.com
