Thoughts about weebly?

So I'll be honest here, I'm really new at all of this. I don't pretend to know a whole lot about marketing online, and am definitely willing to put work in. I checked out Mike Filsame's " No cost profit stream" and have started putting his lessons into action.

Per his recommendation I made a site with weebly, after I found a product I liked. I have found it kind of frustratingly limiting, even after getting a legitimate domain name.

Has anyone else used weebly before? if so what did you like about it? and how did you make your site look less generic?

Feel free to rip my site apart to here is a link:

Yes - I'm still using it. (Weebly Pro, that is). I have sites in their 5th successful year of hosting there. I like it very much. I think it's a very good and underrated host.

The ease of use, and the reliability. (I don't remember my Weebly sites ever being offline).

I'm not quite sure exactly what you mean. I'm not sure I did. Someone familiar with all of Weebly's templates would probably be able to work out that they're Weebly sites, I suppose (I don't regard that as a disadvantage, and it's hardly likely, anyway).

Interesting, I does the pro plan allow a little more flexibility in design? I don't like that only a blog page can have a sidebar. Among other things small things.

I'm an definitely fine with putting more skin in to the service if the returns are worth it in the long run.

also to clarify about the generic comment. I guess more specifically that layout. I don't like that you have these long form looking pages, I would like to have more flexibility with putting things side-by-side and things like that.

Unless I'm confusing it with Yola (where I also have some little sites and where this is definitely the case), I think there may be some templates available only for "pro" users. But if so, this information will doubtless show on their site without needing to upgrade, just to find out?

I look at it a little differently, I admit: I don't think of the "returns" as depending on where your site's hosted. I just use it because (a) I dislike WordPress and won't use it, (b) I find it very easy and reliable, and (c) I feel more comfortable spreading my hosting around between multiple different hosts, on the "eggs and baskets" principle.

Yes, I think I understand. Well, nobody can pretend that Weebly - however nice it is - is as flexible, for layouts, as using self-hosted WordPress.

If you want to try a self-hosted WordPress site without paying, there's always "Freehostia", though I don't think anyone would claim that it's as reliable a host as Weebly.

Fair enough, the price of convenience I suppose. I am gonna check out pro though. Thanks for the perspective.

            Very positive thoughts about Weebly!

I used Weebly for my very first website over four years ago and recieved my very first Affiliate commission from the products i was promoting.

The site is very basic and still running but i tend to prefer to use Wordpress now

I looked at your site and it looks really nice..

I have several free Weebly blogs set up, some of them are almost 4 years old.

I have nothing but good things to say about Weebly. It is my 1st choice to create free sites.

    Great info, Alexa.

I've been looking into weebly for sites in my other niches and they seem to have some designs that I can't get with wordpress.

Coronald, I've been using Weebly for many years. Originally, I used it to promote affiliate products. Then I maintained it because I was recommending it to students. Now I have a couple of sites on it because I like it.

    Your questions:

    * What I like about it

It's a hosting company which I don't need to worry about. Like my Typepad blog, it's maintained by someone else, so I don't need to concern myself with hacking, or anything else annoying.

Peace of mind, in short. :-)

I also like the fact that I can update it in my browser, when I'm away from my work machine.

Also, it's FAST. Create some content, create the site, and it's online in less than an hour. What's not to like about that?

    * How do you make the site look less generic?

Frankly, I don't care. I'm all about the content, and if a site makes sales, why worry?

I have too many sites bother getting fancy on 97% of them. I use Weebly for sites with a purpose -- sites for which I don't need WordPress, or a straight HTML site... mostly, affiliate sites.

If I want to create a big, authority site, I use WordPress, but for simple, everyday FAST sites, Weebly is wonderful. In all the years I've used it -- must be at least 5 years -- I've never had single problem with a site on Weebly. I could kiss them for that alone. ;-)

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Angela

When I first got started in internet marketing I used it for creating basic sites and getting the hang of designing a website. I prefer to stay away from Weebly/Webs/Wix etc and have Wordpress installed on my own server, so much more freedom. I found that Weebly didn't quite do what I wanted, and having no plug-ins was disappointing.

I like it because I can figure it out. I am getting pretty good traffic on my site for just starting.

        I do use weebly too.

        And also Wix

And for sites that i want to create myself i do so in Pro.
Those that i want it to be in WP, i will design the layout of everything on either weebly or Wix then my developer will do for me in WP.

Rather then telling him in words how i want certain things to look like, i just do it on free site builders.

It is not so bad and once you get used to the layout, you can navigate through it pretty efficiently....
