Do You Use Yahoo Answers For Traffic?

I heard that Yahoo answers is a good way to get traffic, how true is that? And won't you get banned if you put links in your answers??

That's a great way to get laser targeted traffic. Don't just paste your link in there, give a quality answer in your niche category and put your web link in the reference box

    Tricky, isn't it?

I can vouch for this. These are great also: Quora, Ask and Answers.com

The only thing 'tricky' about it, is the amount of time it takes. The ROI has to be there to have a VA (even one working for $100) do Yahoo answers.

Why don't you go try it and report back your findings so we all know?

Yes you can get some good traffic that way but depends on your niche whether there are related questions or not. YA can rank highly in Google too which means you can get a lot of search engine traffic.

Yahoo answers is literally crowded with internetmarketers nowadays. You CAN use it but I think using forums is much more profitable.

I use yahoo answers for one main reason, and that is how to find out what problems do people have in my niche?

We have gotten traffic from it, but like other say, it is very hard not to get banned or have your answers deleted. Don't use links in your answer, only in the part where they ask how you know (at the bottom of the answer) and try to "downplay" who you are so it doesn't look like yo uare spamming (like don't say "I wrote an article about this, read it here.")

Use of yahoo answers to get traffic is a very popular method. If your blog post have got the answer of the question ad your account have got level 2, you can post link to your post with your answer. If you do not spam, you will not get banned.

It has worked for me. As long as I gave quality answers, and provided links to quality material it worked well for getting a small amount of traffic. However, the traffic I received from answers did not typically result in a information product sale. I was able to receive some adsense revenue, but that was the extent of my income. In my opinion, people on answers are looking for free information.

FYI- I have only used it for the health and fitness niche.

In my experience it depends on your niche. However be prepared for 50 - 60 % of the time for your answers to be deleted. This is very frustrating. However you will have the option to appeal your answer being deleted. I always do this and 50 % of the time my answers are re-approved and re-posted. You can put a link to your website in the source box only, but it cannot be an affiliate link.

However I actually prefer Askville. I have never had an answer deleted from there, and I get more traffic from it than I do from Yahoo Answers.

        Hope this helps you.

I've used it in the past with decent results. You have to be helpful and put relevant links in the references box or it will be seen as spam.

If you post a link as a resource of a question, you must make sure that link have got the information relevant to the question. Otherwise it will surely become a spam and your account will be in danger.

It varies a lot from niche to niche.

If you're in a competitive niche, your competitors will "flag" your posts and get you into trouble, it's true.

I've had a very long life there, but posting only when I can really add value, with long posts, and putting a self-serving link in only about 15% of my posts. Others' mileage may vary, but for me it's worked, and worked well. (I do it far less now than I used to a couple of years ago, because it's too time-consuming for me, really).

With my experience ,Yahoo answer can help to get some traffic but for short time only, simply because if you post the same link many times you get banned by yahoo answer members, they are looking for correct answer and i think it's hard to post correct answers all the time, my advice is stay away from yahoo answers spam posts.

Personally I would suggest using forums instead, as Thor said. But if you do try Yahoo answers, be sure to create a separate account and use the reference box for you link. If your squeeze page isn't laser targeted you will get flagged and banned.
If you have a click bank product or an ebook that you can promote that specifically pertains to the question and the niche, this works way better. This way your link leads to the ebook, which is a legitimate resource, and people can buy your product which makes you money--which is always a win. You also want to make it so when people click on the ebook or click bank offer they are redirected to an OTO/email opt in post order. This way you get short-term income from selling your product, and long-term income from building your list.

Alexa, have you thought about posting parts of your articles and maybe slightly re-write them as answers to save time? I haven't read their TOS, but I don't think they have anything with already published content.

Of course, Yahoo Answers is a great way to bring traffic to your site. Nobody has mentioned that Fiverr is a great way to get answers on Yahoo. You can usually get one answer from a reputable account for less than a buck.

Yes, I've managed to paste in paragraphs a few times, sometimes changing the word/sentence-order a bit.

Not something I'd outsource in a hurry, myself: short, non-value-adding answers all of which contain a link are a pretty sure way to get your account closed.

I tried driving traffic from Yahoo Answers but when they noticed my account being too promotional, they banned it. So my advice is, give valuable answers, and do not expose your link at all times.

In my experience, the traffic from yahoo answers is also well targeted. And if you have 10 minutes to spend daily, Yahoo answers can be goldmine for targeted traffic to your website. Here are the steps which works for me -

      1. Create 1 yahoo answers account.

      2. Answers questions to reach level 2 (as you need it to insert your URL)

      3. Once you reach level 2, answer 2-3 questions everyday and put your website URL in resource box.

      4. If continue this Yahoo answer campaign for 1 month only, you will have at least 60-80 different questions on Yahoo answers with your website URL. And even if you get 1 visitors from each your answer, you will get around 100 visitors per day! (I have 1 answers which give me 10+ visits per day).

      5. You can always add your own tweaks and tricks.

      6. Repeat the process for your all websites for more success!

Make sure you do this sparingly, Like Alexa mentioned in a previous post on this thread, she only inserts a link about 15% of the time. I have answered 5 or 6 questions in a day without ever inserting a link, why?, because I had nothing to link to. And, when I do insert my link, it is not to my home page, it is to a page within my site that is related to the topic being talked about.

Yahoo Answers is much like the Warrior Forum. You want to become valued participant in the community.

They're ok, but you're not getting those from Yahoo Answers, and neither is anyone else who comments/posts there.

That's like thinking that you're getting a PR-6 backlink from every article you submit to Ezine Articles just because EZA's own home page happens to be PR-6. I'm afraid that's just not how it works. At all. The page rank that affects the backlink is the page-rank of the page on which the backlink appears, not that of the site's home page.

Websites don't "have page ranks". Only pages have page ranks.

Back in 2007 I've generated my first Clickbank sale using Yahoo Answers. The funny thing is that this customer was buying like crazy and every time that I've sent out an offer, he would buy it.

Eventually I moved away from Yahoo Answers towards paid media, but if you are just getting started, then yes, Yahoo Answers can help you to generate some high quality traffic that will convert.

No I don't. Yahoo answers doesn't really allow self promotion and if they found out that you do, then your account will be banned. Besides spamming will simply get you nowhere so why risk it when there are other methods you can use?
Better put your time in decent traffic/seo methods instead like article marketing.

It's not spam when you're legitimately providing a helpful, lengthy, rich and personal answer. Especially when the external link points to a genuinely helpful website, whether it belongs to you or someone else.

Before answering a question on Yahoo answers and then linking back to your own blog/website you would have to have an article there explaining more about this topic, providing a really good information to the readers.

    That means that:

    1) you either need to find a topic that suits something you already have on your blog

    2) or go and create this article first and then go and answer on Yahoo answers

For me this is not a reliable way to get traffic, but quality of Yahoo answers traffic if you can get it is really good.

I'm also not sure how many times you can add the link to the same blog from the same Yahoo account before you get banned.
