Hmm, I don't think that's great advice. IM is not as hit and miss as people seem to think it is. She made that statement basically saying that it's a lot about luck but those who are making good money in IM know that it has very little to do with luck and a LOT to do with hard work -- just like her own industry.

Pretty lame advice really, kind of downlplays your effort don't you think? What if you said "oh well you got into beauty school at the right time, no one will need a haircut in 15 years so everyone else missed the train" - What is she talking about?

I would venture to say people can be in the "right place right time" for anything - but for the majority of people who are making REAL money at ANYTHING they're working their ass off.

most people that work there ass off still don't see any results, in an industry dominated by guru's you got to get in while the getting is good.

also how do you know her job won't be replaced by robots in 15 years? i'm pretty sure japan is working on that already.

but that's how life in general is.

Not exactly some "Einstein" ephiphany... makes me think you haven't been selling online successfully for a long time now. How new are you to internet marketing and the world of online business?

It is the opposite. Working online puts you "everywhere" so you don't have to be "at the right place".

It's not like you run a coffee shop in London and suddenly they announce the Olympics are coming to the stadium down the street... yay, lucky your shop is where it is.

How about all those people with the "foresight" to open a hydroponics store in Colorado two years ago... right place, right time it seems now.

But anyone could register BestColoradoWeedSupplies.com and jump right into the market without needing location or timing.

man hair stylers can work if their hand is completely numb because they know how to play the game, I knew this one lady who had a stroke and her hands where completely numb and she still did a good job cutting hair.

your right I can get better advice on the WF, but wouldn't that be, being in the right place?

Ask your friend to create some of the most modern hairstyles..and you create a video of that or just a video while she is working any way....Sell that video on Ebay over and over because people want to know how to do it.

That is the way you need to be thinking at all times. Not working in a Jooooo..:p

That's an awesome ideal, I should of grilled her on cutting hair and filmed it, since she was grilling me!

I think real timing is a skill rather than something that accidently happens. Think about launch jacking and other similar practicing in IM where you have to be seen "at the right place at the right time" to make the $$. It's part of having a skill that is honed over time that gets developed with lots of practice.

To use that saying in the way the stylist intended it's more about coincidence or luck than anything else. Most of us treat this as a business and there is little luck involved when there's hard work and highly strategized plans behind it.

the lady seemed open minded, I talk about making money online and she asks if I did anything on craigslist or ebay, but I guess thats where people assume you make your money at, i'm sure she has bought some information products on hair styling, on top of her education.

Read some positive thinking books...they really do work...and or a marketing coach.
That would be being in the right place at the right time!

A lot of people have been in the right place at the right time and got nothing from it because they didn't recognize opportunity for what it is.

Maybe the real secret is being in the right frame of mind at the right time.

It should be more about hardwork and perseverance.

I work hard and persevere to get to where I am now and I have no regrets, because as an Internet entrepreneur I get to enjoy both financial freedom and time freedom.

      Cheers!

      I agree!

If you have the right frame of mind by believing in yourself and your product/service and then take action you will succeed in any business model.

99.9999% fail in IM, life and everything else they do. A factor of reasons come into play. But here are the main ones.

Thickness - the inability to think
laziness - the inability to think and act
blame game - the inability to think and act in a responsible manor, all your problems seem to be someone else s fault.

    my advice to you

stop taking advice off people who are not what you want to be.

Life is full of people that tell you what you should be doing and how you can make a success of your life, well before you act or even listen to that advice, take into consideration.

Are they what you want to be.

If they are then take their advice.

Only one thing I am to have in life.

My aim is to have an extraordinary life. So the only people I listen to for advice are the people that have an extraordinary life.

Fact - if you are not where you want to be, then what ever your doing your doing wrong. Once you aspect that fact. You open your self to change.

Please note an extraordinary life is open to every one, its got nothing to do with money. I have seen poor people have extraordinary life's.

The advice she gave may be true, but it can be generalized for any industry, not just for IM.

Which proves that pieces of advice come from where you less expect :-)
I am sure you understand that it is a lot more to it than this, right? :-D

As a hairstylist, you definitely have to be in the right place at the right time otherwise you end up cutting the wrong person's hair

hahah, I should of thought of that.

      would been a nice rebuttal.

and No i don't believe that, you have to educate your self, then be in the right place at the right time, of course anything you do to educate yourself could mean being in the right place, so that saying can pretty much mean anything.

Just remember that successful people make their own luck.
