PPV on Media Traffic - Newb Questions

Guys,

Howdy! I have a few questions. Not to be rude, but please, only answer if you have real life experience (that has been profitable) in regards to this.

I recently started a new PPV campaign on MediaTraffic.com. The campaign has been live for about oh...2 days or so. I've noticed that particular, targeted URLS have gotten some traffic, while over 100 or so other URLS have not gotten anything.

So here's the questions:

1. What is the best, most cost effective way of updating and improving this campaign? I am actually still unsure exactly how MediaTraffic determines WHERE a popup or popunder ad appears.

2. Statistically, are popup ads more effective than popunder ads?

3. Finally, in your experience, are PPC campaigns more effective than PPV campaigns? Or, are PPC and PPV very similar in terms of ROI?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

    Hey writeboywrite.

I am also experimenting with PPV, but I think I can give you some information:

    1. PPV is based in adware. This is software that the users download and install (voluntarily) in their computers in exchange for free games, screen savers or some other products or services offered by the company that makes the adware.

    2. When a user types in his/her navigation bar a term (or a URL) for which you are bidding, the system pops-up your ad. Each user receives only a few ads per day, so as not to annoy them too much.

    3. In order to improve your campaigns you have to constantly (once a day or so) track the results obtained. It is fundamental that you use some kind of tracking software for that. Prosper 202 y very popular and is free, but requires installing it in a web page of your own (self hosting). At first, understanding how to use Prosper 202 is confusing, but with some practice you will get the hold of it. Anyhow, there are many tutorials included with the software and you can also watch videos on YouTube. There is a third party hosted version called Tracking 202, but I have not used it.

    4. PPV is a game of tracking and testing many keywords and target URLs. Discard the ones that do not produce results and keep the ones that make you money. If you cannot get enough traffic for an offer, you need to look for related URLs that have big traffic volumes, so a lot of people will see your ad. For example, if you bid on a URL target like Facebook.com, I am sure that you will get a lot of traffic BUT you have to be careful because a target like that can eat your daily budget in a few minutes. Also, if your offer is not related to that traffic, you will see a lot of clicks but no conversions. So, again, keep looking for more URLs to bid on and keep testing.

    5. There are sites that help you get URLs with high traffic like Quantcast and Alexa.

    6. Almost every PPV marketer says that Pop-Up ads are supposed to be more effective than pop-under. I have only tested pop-up ads so I cannot say much about pop-under.

    7. As for PPC vs PPC. It all depends on how skilled are you in these sources of traffic. There are many people successful with PPC that fail doing PPV and the other way around. Keep in mind that the cost of doing PPV ($0.01 or $0.02 per ad displayed) is much lower than PPC clicks.

    8. There is one great forum specialized in PPV traffic, that I would recommend you to join in order to learn a lot about PPV, it is called www.affplaybook.com (I am not an affiliate of this site, but I am subscribed to the service and I think it is worth the money. It will give you a ton of education about this subject without having to go crazy all over the internet looking for answers to your questions.

    9. Another source of great webinars is Offervault.com (free) and there is also this page called TopMarketingStrategies.com, which is also free and has great podcasts with interviews to recognized people in this industry.

    10. There also a guy called Gauher Chaudhry, who is been around in this industry for 10 or 15 years and have become famous. He created two emblematic products called PPC Formula and PPV Formula. I have bought PPV Formula, which is a pricey product, but I think it is worth it. Gauher reveals many strategies and tips on how to create and run your campaigns that are really eye-openers. The courses were created a few years ago (I think in 2009), but the information is still valuable and relevant if you are beginning
with PPV. Some "gurus" might have a different opinion, but if they are authentic gurus they would probably not be reading this post.

    Hope this helps.
