$1000 for advertising, which YIELDS best return?

I have $1000 that I want to put into advertising our website. I have tried PPC and quite honestly I think that is like burning money. Its reach isn't that good.

I am considering

- Radio
- Newspaper ads
- Solo Flyers
- Video

Not sure which one yields the best results

Anyone care to share what they have found worked for driving people to their site using paid advertising?

I would suggest putting a portion of that money into SEO.

Drive organic traffic to optimize your site to increase your google page ranking.

I have had good results with PPC before.

I would like to ask you one thing:.......

Which PPC company did you use because if you used the smaller companies and not the big ones like Google and Bing/Yahoo then you would be wasting your money with them. I was going to add their names here but they don't deserve it.

With Yahoo/Bing and Google, it would be better for anyone to start with really small bids and then see how things are working out. You should always tweak your ads, raise and decrease your bids to see what works best for you.

I've used facebook, bing and google.

Facebook was the only one that would let me drive people to an optin page. Bing and google wont and the whole purpose of what we give is driven by the optin so i have to drive people there. I cant drive them anywhere else.

You should try high traffic websites too.

Just go to Google and do a search for your niche. Then see who allows banner or text ads on their website and advertise there. That would be a good way to go.

  • The return on your $1000 is not going to depend on wether you use Radio, Newspaper ads, Solo Flyers, Video, or other. The question of "which one yields the best results" will give you different asnwers accros the board because people will have had different experiences with all of the above. You are going to get the results that you want, from having a converting "pitch" "message" "ad" "flyer", etc. Thus if trying radio, you need to try different ads until you find a winner. Same goes for flyers, newspaper ads etc. Ultimately you want to advertise a sure winner, and not make it one expensive testing campaign, as your $1000 will be spent very quickly, especially when "testing" newspaper ads.

I can only speak from my experiences and I would choose solo ads. From my 3 years online, it's been the best way to drive traffic to my offers and get recognition from all over. John Chow also claims they're still the best way to get leads. I've made sales to people in Estonia, Ghana, New Zealand, Australia, Sweden, Ireland, USA, Spain, Colombia etc An ad in a newspaper won't do that for you.

I'm not saying don't try it. I've done offline ads as well but flyers etc are so much hassle and there's not a decent way to analyse your results.

Yes but solo ads you are paying like $60 and your lucky if you get even 60 leads ( which would amount to $1 a lead, costly! )

And where is there a list for solo ads that are NOT internet marketing?

It's not perfect, I know. In an ideal world we'd get good quality leads for free all the time but this just doesn't happen.

Having said that, if you're paying $1 for each targeted lead that will ultimately stay on your list providing you keep sending good content, I'll pay $1 every time. The chances are they will buy something from you eventually and you will have more than made your money back.

As for solos not targeted towards IM, I can't help, I'm afraid. I had this trouble when I tried to move into different niches and is one of the reasons I've stayed with this one.

Before you start the paid traffic (include PPC), make sure to have an opt in the landing page.

PPC with keyword optimized services are best conversion rate in the traffic paid.

I would do a Mix of SEO, Solo ads, and some Media buys and see which one is going to give you the best return of your investment.

Do a combination of several different traffic methods and see which ones yields you the best results. Then test and tweak and focus on scaling up whatever traffic source works well for you

You should run some solo ads and retry PPC. Or exit out the niche altogether and go into an even smaller niche. Advertising on Youtube could be a good option. I know people who are using this with great effectiveness. Dont forget free marketing either.

If I were you, Id split that $1000 investment into 10 portions.

You've already done some PPC and know how to use bing/adwords. Maybe using display network instead of search could help with the optin page issue. Nobody can tell you whats going to be successful.

In business you need data to make smart choices, unfortunately to get data you need to pay for it. Invest your first $100 get some data, then make changes and invest another $100 ... compare and think of what needs to be done for investment #3

I don't think $1,000 is enough to really advertise on radio or tv, or any kind of real print advertising. I suppose you could drop 1K on some postcards for direct mailing.

If you think $1 per lead is too expensive though, I'm not quite sure what to tell you. Many companies pay $60-200+ per lead.

Guess it all depends on the product or what you have to offer.
