What theme should I choose in WP for my food recipe psychology of eating niche?

Hello Warriors,

Which theme should I go with and should I choose FREE or paid one to get my feet wet in IM? The niche is food/recipes/Psychology of eating. If my budget is $50, will I get a good one?

Thanks.

    1) Go to technorati

    2) Look up recipe blogs

    3) Detect a pattern or 'industry standard'

    4) Pick a blog that fits the industry standard

    5) go to What WordPress Theme Is That? and enter the url of the blog

    6) Once you have the blog theme name and design - buy it

    7) MOST IMPORTANT PART: customize it to emphasize your brand (don't just swap headers - change lots of elements - OWN IT to boost your brand)

Personally I would recommend you use Genesis and look at StudioPress themes.

The Genesis framework is fast and SEO friendly. They have some beautiful mobile responsive themes. Look to build a mobile responsive site (you will thank me later). Also search on Google for the to sites in your niche and see how they layout the sites, 2 col 3 col etc

Copy their style and publish the best content you can. No half hearted stuff as the food niche is competitive!

Also look at what the bigs sites are doing and do the opposite! Try and be different to everyone else.

Can you further explain what you meant by "The Genesis framework is fast and SEO friendly. They have some beautiful mobile responsive themes."

Are the above two available at Wordpress.org? I am really new to this, so please bear with me.

Also, you wrote "Also look at what the big sites are doing and do the opposite! Try and be different to everyone else."

What should I do opposite? I can definitely produce unique content with my experiences and personal touch. What else I should do opposite?

      And, RK Corbes,

Thank you for your suggestion. I will look into your idea.

      Regards.

I will definitely recommend themeforest.net . They are categorized plus very good themes at the range of 40$. Latest released themes are responsive so you have a website + mobile for 40$.
