How much money to invest in video game site?

I wanted to try my hand at video game centered websites and I registered the UK domain for Call Of Duty Ghosts, the newest installment in the Call of Duty series due out in November.

I am currently working on building the social media for the site and I wanted to know some things to keep in mind while building that. I was considering doing a contest for a free copy of the game (60 USD) if this were to get me 2k followers what would that mean as far as monitization for my site. With lists, it is commonly said that each person is worth 1 dollar a year each so is there a comparison for Twitter followers or Facebook likes?

Have you had any experience with video game sites? If so is there any great tips you could pass along? It would be very appreciated.

I have owned a game site before, don't just focus on the one release rather the brand as a whole.

That is the plan, I will fold this site into something a little bigger the next time around. I think you words are very wise. Any idea about the initial question?

    JByte has good advice.

Regarding this questions, it completely variable niche to niche, and based on your monetization/marketing skill level.

They are no way to get an accurate estimate, you'll just have to test.

I've seen lists make pennies per user and some $4+.

And just because someone is in the same niche as you, it doesn't mean much, because it all comes down to experience and creativity level.

Better to make a review website and try to focus on different products ...
Do a good keyword research and find good keywords to rank.
Give value to the readers by adding good content.
Make youtube videos and backlink them to your website as it all comes back to generating traffic.
