The More You Give, the More You Get... and the more money you'll make

Giving is essential to every single marketing campaign.

It's also one of the most powerful ways to establish and build your authority.

Here's the catch:

You have to freely give to the people you want to help; the people who benefit from your product or service - without any expectation for reciprocation.

"WHAT?!?!"

A lot of marketers only help their audience to generate an SEO presence, build a list, get more YouTube views, receive more Facebook likes, etc.

And there's nothing wrong with receiving those kind of results for your efforts.

But that's NOT why you do it; that's not why you take the time to help people - like only you can.

I can't tell you how important it is to help... for the sake of helping.

It's like the old adage goes:

"It's not what you do; it's how you do it."

Man, it's so true.

You can't make decisions from the perspective of what kind of return you'll get.

Well...

You can.

But all the authenticity in your efforts is virtually drained.

And the results you would have received - if you just freely gave of yourself aren't revealed - leaving you frustrated, burnt out and cynical.

Do you understand the difference?

When you freely give - whether it's in the form of a blog, a forum post, YouTube video, Tweet, Facebook Wall post... or even writing a free Guide...

...the results you get in return are truly, well... magical.

When I first started out in I.M., I gave a lot.

Nobody knew who I was... or why they should take the time to listen to me.

And it was really important for me to clearly demonstrate that what I had to say was worth reading, hearing and utilizing.

So my whole marketing strategy revolved around giving.

Let me tell you:

There's no other feeling in the world than receiving that first sale on the back of your helping efforts.

It's frickin' orgasmic. (Think Tantra - not wham, bam, thank you ma'am.)

A funny thing happens when you receive results from genuinely wanting to help people; it makes you want to help people even more.

And the more you genuinely help people, the more money you'll ultimately make.

It's effortless.

It's also the only way to market your business (that I know of) that grows your passion and excitement, rather than depleting it by trying to follow the old formulaic paradigm.

Because when you feel appreciated, you want to give even more.

Think about it:

How many times have you experienced wanting to help people more when you feel excited about being seen for your giving-efforts?

How many times have you broken through negative energy/emotions by simply feeling appreciated and acknowledged for who you are and what you offer?

Really take a look at the word, appreciation.

It means growing and expanding.

So when you feel appreciated for the insights you share, your business grows and expands...

...and so does the amount of money flowing into your PayPal account.

It's a simply, but powerful Universal Law.

Even RIGHT NOW - as I'm writing this, I'm already receiving a return on my time; I'm breaking through the resistance I had to sit down at this blasted keyboard.

And now...

I'm ready to work.

I'm ready to absolutely crush it.

I'm ready to leverage the passion I'm feeling at this very second by writing copy that will make me and my client a lot of money.

I just had to give a little - to get this feeling.

And this feeling will create a massive avalanche of money-making, extremely productive work.

It feels good.

Try it.

Mark

P.S. I wouldn't have made a million dollars last year (and only working an average of 4 hours a day) - if I didn't give. To sum up this post: Giving is the fuel that easily keeps your business growing...

    Mark,

I definitely agree with your opinion. The biggest issue is trying to get newbies in the proper mindset when they are struggling just to make ends meet. It takes a bit of determination and blind faith....but it does work.

    Much Success,

When you're struggling to make ends meet, it's easy to fall into the trap of, "What do I do?!?! What do I do?!?!"

      Here's the thing:

Going after specific results is limiting.

When you position genuine help - in front of the eyes who will deeply appreciate your insights; opportunities open up that would have never existed.

...You might attract a new client.

...Meet someone who's influential and tap into their list...

...Strike a cord in thousands (or more) people who want to express thier appreciation by purchasing your product.

You'll never know what's behind door #3 - until you step back from trying to meeting your obligations and try a different marketing perspecitve.

At the end of the day, when you're running an online-based business...

      Everything is advertising.

      Everything.

There's nothing wrong with that; there's nothing wrong with offering people the opportunity to experience your service or benefit from your product.

      But again...

It's not what you do; it's how you do it.

Helping people is the path of least resistance towards creating the kind of prosperity you want, need and damn well deserve.

I totally agree - the foundation of my royalty free music is the option to use my music for free if users credit me.

But of course without AdSense and the Internet there would be no way to monetize that : )

So we are living in a fortunate time where you can freely give and make money from it.

Its also why I enjoy hanging out on the warrior forum. There is something effortless and fun about sharing my experience and advice, and at the same time lots of people get to know me and my music here.

I like this philosophy so much more than churn and burn marketing. If you genuinely try to help people and go the extra mile for them you will see good results and it's great karma.

      What a great post!

I've not seen anything in the last couple of days really worth reading. This is not just worth reading, I copied and pasted into my "thinks to remember" file.

I knew everything being said, but it was that different twist, different perspective that I liked.

Giving without anticipation of reciprocation is the only REAL definition of giving. Any other would fall into barter, sales, manipulation or possibly many other categories but could not be purely considered giving.

You know what? Governments should read this post.

        Here's the mind-screw:

A lot of people genuinely do want to give.

But they can't help themselves from expecting something in return.

So they end up becoming resentful and cynical - when they don't feel like they're receiving the appreciation they deserve...

...which makes them resistant to giving again.

        Even though...

        They weren't really giving.

        Not really.

Because as you pointed out Patrick, it's not really giving - if you're expecting something back.

        So ask yourself:

"How can I freely give of myself today?"

        In the end...

You help people because of how it makes you feel.

If you do it for any other reason, it's not truly giving.

        Mark

P.S. Love the feedback you give people Patrick. You're always spot on.

I'm actually helping a business owner write her copy... for free... before starting another big project.

I'm not looking for new business. I'm just taking advantage of my much appreciated free time.

Thanks for taking the shot Will.

    Ok.

So I guess you should have hidden your signature on this whole thread otherwise it's not really giving, right?

In a way or another you will appear as someone who is selling something.

The point in this thread is to give what you can without concentrating your attention on getting something in return.

It’s not a matter of hiding the fact that you want to make money.

It’s a matter of giving what you can offer with real generosity, without self-promotional tricks.
