Creating a Clickbank product

Hi,

I have created a couple of Clickbank products with some success but I realized that creating the product is tedious for me...I enjoy all the marketing side of things MUCH better (SEO, web development, graphics, video etc...).

I am looking at 2 options for my next project and looking for any feedback you may have about:

1. Outsourcing (elance, odesk etc.) the entire product. Has anyone had success here? Any other sources I should be looking at?
2. Purchasing an existing product. I was planning on emailing some of the very low gravity products (even 0) that looks like there is potential in the product but the marketing is crap and making an offer to buy the product outright and re-launch it. Anyone have experience doing this? What would be a good price?

Thanks in advance!

Alex.

    Hey Alex....

I have done the first option with much success. It is much more expensive to go this route, but the upside for profitability is HUGE.

I haven't contacted current CB vendors but that seems like a great idea.

    Why not do both options?

    Much Success,

I agree with JoeMack. After trying both option you can figure it out yourself which option going to work for you most.

      1. Outsourcing (elance, odesk etc.) the entire product. Has anyone had success here? Any other sources I should be looking at?
Yes, definitely a good idea. Those sources are a great place to start. It depends on what you're looking for, writing, software, etc. I like Freelancer.com also.

      2. Purchasing an existing product. I was planning on emailing some of the very low gravity products (even 0) that looks like there is potential in the product but the marketing is crap and making an offer to buy the product outright and re-launch it. Anyone have experience doing this? What would be a good price?
Ask them for a price first, then counter-offer.

I would compare the price of the product you're going to purchase to what you could have the product realistically created for, then account for the time it would take for you to have the product developed. If you're purchasing a website or email list or other assets then you'd have to factor the value of those as well. Then, I would make an offer well below that because the whole reason you're buying an existing product is to get it cheaper and faster than it would take to create it yourself. Also, if the owner of the product hasn't made any sales or profits they may see this is a great deal to take a loss and move on, so I would probably start my negotiations around 70% less than it would take for me to do it all myself. Then, if we end up at 50% I'm happy.

      Hope that helps!

You don't have to create a product.. Just try out other methods (affiliate marketing, CPA)

I've tried affiliate marketing and after banging my head against a wall with that, I found more success with a CB product...not for everyone but it seems to be in my skillset and I really enjoy the process...except for the creating part

I'm probably stating the obvious but when deciding whether to buy and how much you should consider paying for the CB product you should consider the below as well as other factors. This is not exhaustive.

Payback period and return on investment (ROI). How well will the product fit in with your existing funnel? How much will it be of interest to your existing affiliates? How well will it impact on cross selling opportunities?

In short, taking your business as a whole together with the new product, how well will it help you increase total leads, and convert those leads into paying customers etc.

Don't forget the importance of the backend.
    Hope this helps.

Excellent advice Paul...thanks. I hadn't really thought about that but it seems pretty obvious now... I will definitely look for something that fits in with my existing base so I can do some cross-selling.

You'll have to outsource some stuff at some point, so why not start off with that! Get someone to write your CB product otherwise you're going to be wasting your time, especially when what you like is marketing it!

I do the opposite! I like the writing part but as far as the marketing part is concerned, bores me stiff! LOL! Thinking out having it outsourced as well!

    Good luck

A third option would be to JV with someone who is good at creating products but doesn't like the marketing/promotion side of things. Then split the income.

It is not that I don't like the marketing side of things, just that I am not good at it. I am good at offline marketing, having run my importing business for 22 years and franchised it in 4 countries, with great success. Now that I am retired and writing and selling my book on importing to keep my brain active, I am in totally new territory.

I have this week been approached by a very successful internet marketer offering me a JV, but my online skills are so poor that I cannot do the things needed. If someone such as Alex offered me a simple JV in which I did not have to build lists, do blogging etc., maybe we both could benefit.

It might even give me time to finish the other two books that I am writing based on my lifetime of business, franchising, and offline marketing experience.

While I say that my online skills are poor, I am pleased to say that my conversion rate on my small traffic numbers is excellent. That is evidence of my writing and marketing psychology skills.

          Hi,

I'm looking forward to outsourcing my ClickBank product.

I know this is an old post, but Launchboard doesn't seem to be around anymore. Have you had success with any other companies that I may contact?

          Thanks in advance.

JV...trust me...it's exactly what you should do after reading your skill set.

Both your ideas are great, try both.

I was marketing a royalty free music package on ClickBank for a while as an affiliate. Somebody bought that out from the owner, changed the landing page, and sales went to zero. So even though that is the opposite of what you want to so, people DO buy ClickBank products out from existing vendors.

Well after that happened, I created my own royalty free music package, put it on ClickBank and this has gone really, really well. So now I too have been thinking about outsourcing another product and it would probably be about 1-2K to make something of real big value (including landing page, graphics, etc.)

Interesting thread Alex, Ive got a CB product all done, online in the CB marketplace, spent $6000 on VSL's and sales copy, upsell in place, converts at 2.5-3% on cold traffic etc, total investment around $13K

My issue is I've no idea how attract affiliates. Maybe we could talk about working together. PM me if you like for a chat.

Nice, I've never outsourced content creation nor have I used plr content..YET. I think the first option would be ideal because you can still have some control on how the product comes out.

What do you know? It's the key. Generally when you know something you think every does but the fact is they don't - write it down and go from there.

    Hey

    I know what you feel.

What I would do if I was you...

I would create a list of topics I want my product to cover.

Make them into the order that I want them to be.

Really think about what I want included in the product...

...And just get those topics and information outsourced in a format that you want it to be.

Then when you get it you can change it around into the style you want it to be in...But you would skip the work you find unpleasent (actually creating the content)

    Hope this helps,

    MeelisM

Actually so does outsourcing (The key is to filter by product creation experience!)

I will personally go for the first option which is outsourcing cause they save you all the time and headache to enable you concentrate on other task such as the marketing aspect of your project when done.

This is what I do myself and just concentrate in recruiting affiliates to help with the promotion aspect.
