Amazon affiliate site - madness!

I don't understand this at all, I typed in a product name from Amazon when I was looking at the top sellers to see which items I could review, and found a site with the product on it. The site is just page with a list of products all the way down the page and all are linking to Amazon.

My point is, why was this site on page 1 of Google for the product name when all there is on the site is a list of products, and I mean that's all there is, no content at all.

Bizzare if you ask me.
Really don't get it.

Yes I see some real rubbish on the 1st page but in the long term content is going to win, sites that try to game Google will come and go but if you are building quality content the likelihood is that it will stick.

That's true Stevie C, I can only imagine how much money they have already, depending on how long they have been on page one and is there anyone searching for the product name.

Was the site an aged domain?

I've noticed that many spammers are using slideshare.net now to create very naff slideshows in attempt to make sales and they are ranking high.

Funny thing is when I use the SEO Quake tool bar to find out it's giving me the name of the page in the age section. When I click on that it brings me to the same page but shows the date. It's like they are trying to hide the date or something. 12 years old so it is. reviewsgolf.co.uk is the domain, check it.
