Screenshots of Ebook content pages?

INTERNET MARKETING

Hi,

I'm putting together a new sales page for testing and I wanted to show potential customers some screenshots sample pages of the pdf ebook they're buying... without revealing too much.

So I thought I'll open the pdf reader and just make some screenshots from selected pages... but this looks really "ugly".

Is there a "cool" way to do it? Somebody seen this anywhere?

Taking screen shots should be fine, make sure you have the book maximized and you are using a high resolution computer.
Scale the image to the size you want in photoshop don't rely on other things to resize it to avoid distorting

  Full screen definitely. You might want to try scaling down the big images to male thumbnails, and the creating a zoom effect. I did this on Dog Recall Training - Teach your dog to come right away when called

I would go into google images and search for "vector book" so you can get some images of nice animated pages. Then, go edit your text/content on the pages and use that for my advertising.

If you have access to the text version of the book, why not
just edit the book to what you want to give away and make
a PDF of that version of the book? At least that's what I do
for my 'teaser' versions.

The optin bait is a great idea - but sometimes people want to 'see' what they're getting before they give away that name/email. Offering that on your page is a great idea - but you really shouldn't have resolution issues with a screen shot. Crop it in another program - NOT Word - like Photoscape (free).

Offering the first chapter is a great idea, or at least the first 10% like amazon does. I order sample copies of books from amazon all the time and if I like the book, I'll buy the book. So offering a free sample and including a link at the end of the free sample so your reader can purchase the full version is a great idea.

  Offering a free chapter as a freebie in exchange for their email address works great as John says.
  
  If you wanted to do screenshots, you would have to take them on maximum size, then scale them down so they fit on the sales page, and don't look too big.
  
  If you use firefox, there is a plugin called 'screengrab' which works great to capture screenshots. You would have have your PDF uploaded on your server, opened in firefox and use screengrab on it.
  
  I hope you have an ebook cover picture included too.
