Google Webmaster Tools Confused

Hi if I could have a bit of advice that would be great

I use all of Googles stuff (I like it) but the most confusing one is Google Webmaster Tools - for a number of my pages I have an average position of 1.0 but when I use Google search I cannot find them in the listings.

I also use Rank Tracker and it is reporting that none of the pages are in the top 100 for Google.

I am getting traffic

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

  • Those numbers mean page.

    So like 6.4 would mean 6th page, 5th entry (0 is 1st).....on average.

    Having a 1.0 should have you at the top of page one.

    There are a few reasons you may not find your links:
    - These stats are somewhat delayed
    - They're an average...so if you have something like 6.4 then you're results could be on page 1.0 or 12.8...so that's a pretty wide range
    - Google tries to tailor your search results...so maybe it's just not showing you your links....tho that doesn't really explain rank tracker

    Basically...some stuff is just delayed and/or calculated crazily...if you're getting traffic...just keep doing what you're doing.
