Are universities offering Sitesell.com Courses????

Hi,

I am intending to start a modelling web site. I thought of using the services of sitesell.com. But, there are so many negative reviews about sitesell.com. So I am really confused.

Now, in the web page, Why Do Universities Choose SBI!, Sitesell.com claims that their courses are taught in universities. But, when I searched in the site of Arizona university (The University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona), I did not find any mention about sitesell.com.

So what do you think? Is it a lie?

    It may be that the University hasn't listed the course, included it under a different name, or has dropped it from their curriculam.

    Why not just send them an email and ask them if they still offer the course?

      The linked page also mentioned the course as "continuing education", which often means an extension course offered by a private individual with the college getting a significant cut of course fees. There may be 'how to start an online business' courses taught by SBI affiliates, and SiteSell is using 'selective truth' to make it appear that the institutions named endorse SBI.

      In other words, telling a copywriter's version of the truth...

        From what I understand it's continuing education classes and/or classes that are merely housed at prestigious campuses.

        According to Sitesell's affiliate marketing materials, the classes are NOT taught by professors hired by those colleges, but rather taught by SBI customers and/or affiliate marketers. The page at SiteSell Education - Instructor Lounge (a link I found via their SBIX affiliate newsletter) provides the following information to those interested in teaching SBI (and boost affiliate sales):
        To succeed as a SiteSell Education instructor, you need a concrete plan and strategy for...
        1. Approaching the educational institutions.
        2. Selling the institutions' administrators on this new course idea.
        3. Presenting a course which meets the objectives and needs of the students in the area.
        So as you can see it's "true" in a sense, but not the way you'd expect. The page has a link for people who want to "apply" to be an instructor. You can read more at the link above for yourself and make up your own mind.

        On a personal note, I hate SBI. They make a lot of promises for product improvements and do NOT deliver on those promises. I do NOT recommend them at ALL. Run do not walk away from this horrible, manipulative company and its shameful marketing tactics.

          To me Sreejish, that fact by itself speaks volumes.

          Usually, the only people who write reviews are affiliates. Genuine customers can't usually be bothered. Having a lot of ex-customers writing long detailed angry reviews, with absolutely no monetary reward for doing so, is a very rare event in the IM space. Yet that is exactly what is happening with SiteSell and SBI right now.

          As an ex-SBI customer myself, and one who has read reviews like this one with hundreds of concurring comments, I would definitely steer clear.

    I will trust an ex-customer rather than a copy ad in the website. Sitesell is literally the reason why many people are hating IM business. I think it is okay to claim that your product is number one, but manipulating the fact about your business is a pathway to ruin, because people are not stupid.

    Their affiliates are hounds, too. I've had the misfortune of running across a couple, and it was like a cult. Just never saw the advantages.

    You should probably contact the university mentioned. If you think it necessary tho.

    Anyway, I'm an ex-costumer of SBI too. I just want to say that you should stay away from it.

    Why guess at the answer when we can know the truth without a doubt?

    I just sent an email to the Office of Admissions for each college/university listed in SiteSell's main list on the page linked by the OP, asking if the course was available as part of a degree program, or if it is a non-credited continuing education course.

    I won't bother with the "Other Partnering Institutions" listed. If the info from the main list comes back as we all suspect, then there's not much need in wasting time on the insignificant colleges listed at the bottom.

    In the spirit of full disclosure, I'm the author of the article linked by Oven Key above. My sentiments about SiteSell and SBI are pretty much identical to Princessleia's.

    I'll report back what I hear from these colleges and universities.

      I just heard back from one college listed, Palomar College, who had this to say:

      Hi, Kristi,
      We do not use SBI for our classes. Our web site design classes use software like Adobe Dreamweaver or Wordpress. I'm not sure why their site has Palomar College listed.

      I think the closest classes we have that you might be interested in are:

      BUS157 E-commerce (offered by Bus Dept.)
      GCMW102 Web Page Layout (every semester)
      GCMW217 Online Store Design (Spring 2014)

      Please let me know if you have any more questions.
      So clearly, Palomar College does not "choose" SBI!, nor have they "select[ed] SBI! as the way to teach undergraduates, MBAs and Continuing Education students how to use the Web to build a successful online business."

      Gee, I wonder what the others will have to say? I'm on the edge of my seat.

        Well, I am lost for words. This company seems to just make things up. Unbelievable!

        BTW, on this sales page if you change each mention of SBI to WordPress, it becomes true. So perhaps it was a typo :-)

          Major schools are careful about their partners, especially in the "private sector." They do their due diligence carefully. Only SBI! is offered in higher institutions of learning because only SBI! delivers success.

          You can be sure that SBI! is, indeed, "the real thing."
