What Hosting Company Has The Best Customer Service?

If you had to recommend a hosting company to a friend or client that was a complete newbie what hosting company would you suggest.

Thanks.

I would say that smaller companies have excellent customer service. I've had fantastic experiences with StudyHost, BigScoots and CrocWeb. Whenever I've opened a ticket I've received a response within 15-30 minutes.

The best thing, however, is that some of these hosts only cost me $25 a year, with a discount having been applied of course. But the discount can last for a lifetime and not just 1 year.

Hudson Valley Host out of New York. They started off small and became big (relatively speaking). They've got the best customer service of any company I've seen since I've been online.

I'm going to use this as an opportunity to tell you that host gator might have customer support but prepare for some negative repercussions for following hype.

I bought a dedicated IP from HostGator only to find out I was actually sharing my website's IP with a porn site. If you value host-giant style support over SERP scores and website security then HostGator might be perfect. Just be careful and don't be afraid to try smaller hosts with a fan base or good reputation.

It does not make sense. Can you please explain that how can a dedicated IP be shared with a porn site? If it is indeed sharing then the IP is not dedicated.

Actually, your question in the post has nothing to do with your title!

I always like to say that I recommend hosting companies where I have no idea how the "customer service" is because I've never had to use it
Meaning, if everything goes nicely and without hickups then you never have to contact customer service. And that means they are good host...

I would definitely say GoDaddy. I've tried many other hosting companies and this one always comes out on top. They have 24/7 customer support and you just have to give them a calll. I've never had to hold more than 5 minutes and I always get my problem sorted out. They are also very cheap in my opinion.

    Hope this helps,

You must be very new and ignorant (when it comes about good hosting for IM).

No, they are not a IM-friendly host. I'd say, they are not a good host at all. Period.
They are just the most known registrar, that's all. Most people also prefer not to register with them any domains.

      Just FYI...

I have very nice experience with ipage. When I was a newbie and did not know many things, ipage solved all my doubts through chat.

Beware of godaddy, I still have an account there but I don't like their customer service which is only through email ( I did not use the phone ) and loading time for my WordPress site takes very long.

All my own domains are with Host Gator and I have been with them for 4 years but there chat support takes awhile to answer and I don't see an option to talk with them on the phone.

I also have experience with Blue Host but I don't think their customer support is that good, at least from the few conversations I have had with different reps there.

I think Go Daddy's phone support is the best I have encountered so far but as mentioned above they really are not a good company for IM. They probably work best for brick and mortar business to get their first website online.

For a newbie I'd say Hostgator - but....

If you are sending people to hosting you need to prepare them. I've seen people post here about "lack of support" and then learn they've been contacting hosting support a couple times a week and are complaining about lack of babysitting more than anything.

People need to take the step of LEARNING how hosting works - and HG has some of the best newbie training on the member site. I'd recommend HG and tell them to take an hour and go through the training on that site.

If you are looking for VPS Hosting then Servint hosting is awesome. I am using it currently.

My previous host was godaddy ( I used there shared hosting) it was ok until my traffic reached 15000 page views a day.

About Hostgator there are good reviews but I also heard that if your site exceeds resources limit they will suspend your site without even notifying.

Before going for any site just checkout reviews once

Although I've never used them, I'd have to say Hostgator.

And the reason I say that is because of what Warrior Forum members report about their customer service. Apparently, you can ask some of the most inane n00bish questions and Hostgator will answer them.

For instance, people on this forum have reported that Hostgator will help them with all kinds of stuff that web hosting companies really shouldn't be asked to do. People have asked Hostgator for help with Wordpress and gotten help with it. I think you could ask Hostgator to install a Wordpress plugin for you and they would. These are not the types of things that people should ask hosting companies to do, but Hostgator seems to do a lot of hand-holding if what people on the warrior forum are saying is true.

Again, I've never used Hostgator, but the things that many Warrior forum members have said about being assisted with noob problems leads me to believe that Hostgator is the most beginner friendly host.

I've used a host of hosting companies including HostGator (okay), GoDaddy (never again), Netfirms (slow loading), DreamHost (don't like: no cPanel), and JustHost (jury is still out).

Most have provided a quick response to problems, but not all have delivered adequate solutions to them. Any change you make in DreamHost account is actually a request for them to make the change and thus a delay.

If I had to make a recommendation from the experiences I've had so far based on those services I've used, I would have to go with HostGator. I hope this helps you out!

I have to put in a vote for D9Hosting who have both UK & US based servers. I've had a reseller account with them for some years and their customer service is excellent - I've just checked and I've had 39 tickets since Oct 2008, many because of my own ignorance when I was a newbie but also mistakes and hacked sites etc, so I really appreciate that their support treats you with respect and not just as some idiot even when your query is very basic.

Gave Hostwinds a try but wouldn't recommend them because I had ftp problems that couldn't be resolved.

I also use Hostgator and the hosting is fine, however I did find that support via Live Chat could be very long-winded though my issues were resolved eventually. Overall, I would endorse others' recommendations of Hostgator.

I always prefer Hostgator and have had great experiences with them in the past. That said I think since they've been taken over their support has slipped resulting in longer waiting times which causes me some frustration. Also, their degree of operator support varies considerably from person to person. It's pot luck who you get and what their attitude is nowadays. I feel this is a shame since they used to be so good.
