What's the internet marketing advantage of covering your links with bit.ly?

Hello.

I think this is the 4th time I've seen someone comment on a thread to

"rewrite PLR articles then post them on your website, then add a link to some clickbank, CJ, Jvzoo products and then cloak those links with bit.ly or adf.ly".

I have a website that has has some hyperlinks to some landing pages of clickbank products with my hoplink.

What's the difference with covering or cloaking them with bit.ly? Why would those people advise to do that?

I've googled it but no related searches.

Can anyone please enlighten me about this?

Just curious really.

    Try searching here or Google for 'why cloak links' and you'll find loads of information on why it's advisable to cloak your links.

      If you are reading a blog, solo ad, etc and see a link that looks like milliondollarswhilesleeping . com wouldn't you be suspicious too? Link cloak will make the reader more likely to click on your ad

    I would say if you are going to track your links for the above reasons, don't use ad.fly or bitly. Ad.fly will make anybody who clicks on your link mad because it's going to take them to an ad. I would suggest using clickmeter. It's free if you get under 1000 clicks to your links a month and it tells you a lot more stats than bitly or ad.fly.

      I see, so in your experience, can you advise me how to put the links?

      I mean most of the time I would at least leave one hyper link at the bottom of the article.

      Say if it's about best fitness exercise the hyperlink at the bottom would say "click here for the best fitness exercise diet".

      Should I then replace that with Click this link for the best fitness exercise >>> "bit.ly"

      I mean, how should it go?

      Got it, thanks. By protecting your affiliate link you mean to say that this way, people won't see it's an affiliate link and would assume it's a non profit link right?
