Have your broken your 4 minute mile? Making Your First Dollar Online

Hello All....

Just read something about Roger Bannister and thought I would share my thoughts about how he relates to internet marketing.

Roger Bannister was an ordinary man. He was just like you and I. But he shattered a wall that had been standing for quite some time: being able to run a mile in under 4 minutes (stay with me, I'll bring it back to IM soon).

The four minute mile was a barrier that no one seemed to be able to break. People began to believe that it just wasn't possible for a human being to accomplish the task. People tried year after year with no success.

On May 6th, 1954, on a cool evening in Oxford, England, Roger Bannister shocked the world by running the mile is 3 minutes 59.4 seconds.

"But what does this have to do with internet marketing?" you may be asking yourself.

The general consensus among society was that it was impossible for a human being to break the 4 minute mile barrier. And no did.

But Bannister believed that he could. And he did. But here's where it gets interesting.

Although people had been trying to beat the 4 minute mile unsuccessfully for many years, once Roger Bannister showed that it could be done, that it was humanly possible, then it changed the perception of what could be accomplished.

46 days later someone else also broke the 4 minute mile. And since, thousands have been able to break through the wall that was once thought of as "impossible."

The point is: humans had the ability to break the 4 minute mile all along, they just didn't believe that they could.

And this is how it is with making that first $1 with internet marketing. On the surface, it's just a dollar and has very little monetary value. But the value that it has on your psyche is immense.

For many, making money online is just a fantasy. A daydream that sounds nice. But it's unattainable. It's making that first dollar that makes it real.

For newbies, generating that first $1 is their 4 minute mile. There first goal should be to break through that barrier and earn that first dollar. Everything starts from there. Once your mind believes that making money online is possible, then, and only then, will it happen.

Keep taking action, guys. You'll get there. Don't give. If you haven't broken your 4 minute mile barrier yet, go do it. Prove to yourself that this is real and possible.

Much Success,

JoeMack

That is an interesting way of putting earning your first dollar online. I think that anyone can accomplish earning a buck, it just takes starting something and sticking with it.

Most people that never earn anything online are the ones that bounce from project to project and lack any kind of focus. The key is to stay dedicated and put the hard work in and you should get your $1 in profit.

Exactly. It's a mental thing. Once you accomplish something that at one point seemed "impossible", it opens the gates to so many more opportunities.

I was reading another thread about how buying WSO's won't make you rich, or something to that end.

I laughed as I read the posts.

The reason I laugh is because almost every WSO that I have purchased and taken from absolute beginning to absolute end has made me money.

Making money online gets easier and easier with practice and a belief that you can do it.

Most people have the ability to make a life out of internet marketing but that inner fear dialogue takes over and steers most people in another direction. You have to learn to put that negative voice in your head aside and go out and make it happen!

For the football fans out there, look at Wes Welker.

No way that guy should be playing in the NFL. He's smaller and weaker than I am.

But he has a supreme belief in his ability and has the expectation that he will succeed, and you know what? He does succeed where he probably shouldn't.

I have said this before, but in real estate the difference between selling a $100,000 home and a $1,000,000 home is a zero.

Same goes for IM, Making that first $1 and making tens of thousands of dollars is nothing more than a few zeros. Takes the same amount of energy and effort.

    Believe in yourself and Make.It.Happen.

I heard that on the radio yesterday. Kind of like Napolean Hill's "“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

This is why I think it is a good idea for a newbie to make their first dollar online as fast as possible. I was lucky back in 2002 where I made an affiliate sale in my first day online and got hooked on it every sense.

You tend to believe you can actually do something if you get a little taste of success that propels you towards you goal. Bannister ran 4:02 in Jan. 21 1054 so he really believed he could get under 4 minutes.

I knew I heard this somewhere! Thanks!

It's definitely motivating and I feel as if making that first sale is just a skill that can be developed. Same goes with making that a consistent income.

That's the skill I need to develop. I've made 10K since 2010, but 3 years later that's still well below poverty level lol

It's a lot like hitting that 4 minute mile EVERY time!

Roger Bannister's success applies to internet marketing too.

If someone is just starting out and within a few months are able to earn a full time income online then anyone else can. When someone does this, it just proves to others that he or she can do it too.

You just need to find that person and then learn from them to see how you can do it too.

Apply, take action, be persistent, and never give up.

    Another gem by Roger Bannister:

"The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win."

This can also be applied to internet marketing. Newbies fail because they give up too soon. They give up once things start to get hard and tedious and uncomfortable.

Working online really is a battle.

You have to keep surpassing many obstacles all the time. There is a fierce competition in all fields, everything keeps changing and you have to get adapted to numerous changes all the time, and you want to frequently sell your products; not only once in a while. This is not a simple matter.

Without determination and persistence, you cannot go ahead.

Well, I wouldn't say that filling out surveys, although you are making money online, is the same thing as internet marketing (ie. trying to get other people to make a purchase or pay for a service).

It really is a mental thing. Good post. Making that first sale was really quite a high and when it happened it confirmed that the Internet Marketing dream is a very real one and that I needed to up my efforts even more.

One thing I have learned is that even with obstacles there is always a solution if you look hard enough. It might take some time to find that solution but you can get to that next level everytime.

Love the Roger Bannister story Joe, the guy's a huge inspiration. I heard Tony Robbins talking about him once and he was saying when Bannister wasn't able to run the four minute mile physically, he visualized himself doing it over and over until he convinced himself he could do it in real life. Crazy how strong the mind can be and how much you can accomplish with a little self belief!

      Very true.

Newbies, and those that have been trying unsuccessfully to make money online for a long time, need to focus intently on making sure that they truly believe that it is possible for THEM to make money.
