Quick question, are solo ads mainly used in the make money niche? I've been trying to find solo ads in a completely different niche but seem unable to find anything that looks legit. Anyone have any insights on this because the term 'solo ads' seems to be a blurrred term for me at the moment.

Yes, the majority are in the IM niche. There are some in other niches but they're not as easy to find. I've never tried solo ads in other niches so I can't really comment on their quality.

Another option is to search for blogs in your niche that have opt-in forms. Then contact them and see if they are willing to sell a solo ad.

Yes, however it's going to take a little bit more work. First, find people who are selling products or send out newsletters/e-zines in the particular niche. You can do this by Google searching for particular keywords (sometimes you just have to sit down and type different keywords to test them out). Once you find something, contact the owner and ask if they are selling advertising space.
Additionally, you can go to sites like Clickbank to see which products are available in the particular niche.

For solo ads in the make money niche, a good site is soloaddirectory.com

No problem. To be honest, even in the IM niche it's not always easy finding solo ads that convert well. Solo ads require testing, but it can be very profitable once you get the hang of it.

Also, here's a good post by Paul Nicholls that I forgot to share earlier. It has some more info on solo ads outside of the IM niche.

Yes, it is true that you will be able to find more solo ads in the MMO and Forex market. But there are many people with list outside of this 2 market do not know the concept of solo ads. One thing that I learn from Jason Parker is to go to affiliate network like Clickbank to find the vendors who is in the same market that I am in.

The next thing that I will do is to contact them and ask whether they are selling any solo ads. If you are in a profitable market, there will be quite a number of vendors who you can contact.

About 80% of list builders selling solo ads focused on IM niche. The rest of the niches are really hard to find. I've dealt with non IM niche list builder from that past but his list is not that big as those subscribers interested in IM niche. However, you can look for blogs of that niche which have opt-in forms on their blog site. If they have opt-in form, meaning they also have their email list. Ask them if they're open for selling solo ads.
