A unique 10,000 word e-book in 2 hours? Is that possible?

How did I come up with a 10,000 word e-book in 2 hours?

I have several websites in several niches. I write articles for promotion and for new content on a regular basis. Today it struck me. Why don't I compile all the articles I've written on a niche into an e-book. So I did. It took about 2 hours to copy and paste the articles and then organize them into chapters.

I can use the e-book as a give away, sell it to visitors to the site, sell the e-book as PLR to others. More revenue from the same articles.

So if you have articles, even if they've been distributed to article directories, posted on your blogs, or submitted to your sites as content, put those articles back to work as an e-book.

    Excellent post, Dee.

Articles are your real estate! And you can use them more than once to benefit you. Good job pointing out another great way to use your articles.

    Thanks,

hugo of course you're correct. And you have to make sure that there isn't a lot of repetition within the articles. The same 500 word article rewritten 20 times would get you to 10,000 words but it would be a horrible e-book.

Th e-book I put together this afternoon was on credit card and debt management. I organized the articles into several categories: credit cards, personal loans, debt settlement, debt consolidation, debt counseling, bankruptcy and foreclosure. It helps I have a strong background in finance.

If you knew a subject really, really, well, you could give a two hour talk.
10,000 words in two hours would be 5,000 words per hour.
With a bathroom break in the middle, that's 100 words per minute - a believable conversational pace.
A two hour interview, transcribed, would be 10,000 words.

    Allen

The reservation I have over this is that many articles produced online are of sub-par quality. On top of that, they tend to be re-hashes (not necessarily spins) around different keywords. In order to really get away with this, the articles would have to be very distinct and be of decent quality, or surely you risk the subscriber walking away.

I agree, articles must be of very good quality in order to be considered as ebook material.... if you have those good quality articles it would be a waste of words and knowledge not to use them in other creative forms as making an ebook out of them....

10,000 Words? You know Dee... I was going to jot down some 500 word articles for a future product, and the first draft of the first article turned into 1500+ words in less than 30 minutes... and I still feel it is incomplete. I could put together a few others just like it, and in no time 10,000 words would seem like nothing.

2 Hours would be easy with existing content. Highly unlikely when you are creating material from scratch.

Bev, I know from the articles I have paid for that outsourcing writing is only so good. It is good for some initial ideas and research, but in the end you are better off re-writing the content so it has your style of writing as well as your own level of quality. It is difficult to convey to a writer exactly what you want. You are the only one who can put it in the exact tone, tempo and style that you want.

I started doing that myself... but not for those specific reasons. I tend to base new articles on old posts I have made. I expand on the original idea I had when I wrote the post.

Could I write 10,000 words in 2 hours? No. The most I can write in one day is 3000 - 4000 words. And that's only if it's subject I know well and don't have to research. More than 3000 - 4000 words per day and I start getting burnt out and sloppy.

Writing is my job, that's what I do for a living. I'm a professional and take pride in the quality of my work. I'm the author of 3 commercially published books, lots of ebooks, and hundreds of articles.

I type 100 words (give or take) a minute. I could type 12,000 words in 2 hours (2 hours X 60 minutes X 100 word per minute) but typing is not the same thing as writing. And besides I'd probably get muscle cramps after typing straight for 30 minutes and have to stop.

The average person talks at about 120 words per minute. So if I talked about a subject I know and love, I could talk for two hours, record the speech and then have it transcribed. But talking about a subject is not the same thing as writing.

      But that wasn't my point.

My point was I was leaving money on the table by only using the articles I've written for one purpose. Perhaps others could learn from that.
