Selling website/estimating cost.

Hi Guys,

Thinking about selling one of my sites. It is about 2 years old, doesn't get much revenue, but does get a lot of traffic. Was thinking about flippa, but what would you recommend for evaluating the overall cost. I invested many many hours into and I know the obvious points such as age, traffic, revenue etc but is there any way to get a correct estimate?

Might be a bit vague above, but just looking for feedback from people who have sold there sites and how they went about doing it. Also how much did you make(roughly)

Thanks!

List your site and see what they ask you to fill in, that's easiest.

Things like your Alexa rank, screenshot of Google Analytics, proof of earnings from the site, PR, etc.

The more info you have, the more you'll get for it (if the info is positive that is)

You could also try the valuation tool on Flippa. I have never used it myself, but it is backed by data from over $100 million in transactions.

I have sold my website, it was only 3 months old and I sold it for 75$, it had 0 revune and not a lot of traffic, from my side I made a great a deal, when I asked the buyer why he bouth the website he said because it was a nice domain name.
I don't think that anyone can say on how much a website will go on an auction. the best thing to do is to go throw Flippa and see on how much simillar websites were sold.

How much money is it making?

That's what most people care about. Not vanity metrics.

Typically sites sell for 12 months worth of revenue.

So, you say its not making anything.....

    12 x 0 = 0.

    1. That was 3 years ago. The marketplace can and has changed.

    2. How is that website doing today?

I'd recommend to get your data and statistic in order and put it up for auction, then let the
    market decide what it's worth.

Or... if you have a list from that site, sell to that list as your preferred, but reasonable price point.
Who knows, you may have a few subs who like the site and its current earnings. Then they can
bid on it. (Just thinkin out of the box)

Decide what the least amount of money that you will take to unload it and list it on Flippa with that as reserve. Sites with low or no reserve tend to get a lot of bids faster. Feature it on the last day or two to get more views, as that's when most of the bidding will happen. Make sure you include screenshots of AW Stats for the traffic and referrers and describe any other assets it has.
