Need a Reliable Drop Ship Supplier. Anyone?

Hi there,

Looking to start a drop ship ecommerce website for DJ equipment (any type of DJ equipment - headphones, mixers, CDJs, turntables, etc...). Does anyone have a reliable connection to a supplier?

I'm guessing a supplier over seas. Also, I will only handle the front end, I want them to handle all the legal work.

Can someone give me direction? I am lost...

Thanks,
DJ Whrr

Your best bet would be Mr. Google.

That's a gentleman hiding behind a search button.

You tell him "DJ equipment" and he starts to dive into his basement and after a few seconds spits out name address phone numbers of hundreds of companies.

Whether they are reliable or not: now it's up to you to find out. Grab a phone and key in one of those numbers that Mr. Google handed you.

If the company is any good you will be talking to a real human being very soon. And if that person can help you you are already on your way to finding a reliable supplier.

If that number is disconnected or answered by a machine you strike that number from your list and punch in the next combination.

If you do that for a day or two you should come come up with a short list of companies.

Next step would be to schedule some real world meetings and you are on your way.

If all that sounds too complicated: Just buy one of those magic button softwares. They usually work like a charm (like a charm for the seller that is)...

You might have better luck going to google and putting in some time. I don't think anyone here who has a great hookup and business with dj wholesaling with a great dropshipper is going to hand that to you for free. If you start doing research on google, you can try and get in touch with companies that may sell them or look throughout any forums, wholesales sites etc. try and establish a relationship with somebody and see if you can work something out.

There is alibaba.com and sites like it, if you wanted to try going that route. But most likely, I don't think they will drop ship for you and handle the business side of things the way you want.

Hope this helps. You may have to put in alot of research to find somebody with everything you want.

      Yeah OK. Thanks all.

Did some Googlin' on it, but I kept thinking to myself that since I'll probably be trying to find a supplier in China, then it would be hard to communicate due to language barriers.

      Does that make sense?

If you are looking for suppliers in China, you need to take great care.

Firstly, are you looking for a supplier to dropship for you ex China? In other words will your customers receive their products direct from China?

Many would-be resellers have been burnt by suppliers they have found on some of the B2B sites that are often recommended on the forum. Some of those recommendations are made by warriors who have been lucky enough to find a supplier who actually delivers what is paid for. Others have been posted by ones who think that if a site is well advertised it must be good. There are safe sites, but they never get a mention.

I won't go into the problems that dropshipping ex China can cause even if you find good supplier. If you want to know, just ask.

Instead of dropshipping, I teach how to safely source small quantities direct from real manufacturers at genuine factory prices. The profit margins doing it this way would make most dropship resellers drool. They cannot imagine what they are missing out on.

Many people on this forum will tell you that you have to place big orders and can't buy small quantities direct from the manufacturers. That's just because they don't know how to do it. Others will tell you that importing is too difficult. Again, that's because they don't know how to do it the easy way without having to learn all the rules.

You don't need a lot of capital to start this way. I have taught my system to people in 8 countries, most of them total newbies when it comes to importing, and I know that several of them at least have started off with around $300.

Thanks SalesGuru... didn't see that, but I'll check it out.

And Importexport. Sure, could you explain? I have a friend who drop ships all of his stuff (he sells headphones) by using a supplier who sells unlicensed headphones (I believe that is the correct term). The headphones were acquired one way or another so they can be sold for cheaper.

He has the website and connects with buyer who buy directly on his website. Once a transaction is made, it is sent to the supplier who then ships out the item and handles all of the exporting.

He told me this is the best approach, but he said you need to find a good supplier. That's what I'm destined to do now. :p

            Hi DJ Whrr,

If your friend is getting his supplies from overseas it is only a matter of time before he gets caught. One day he may get a knock on the door, and the potential is there for severe financial penalties or even prison time. For the best case scenario he might just have all the goods confiscated and destroyed by Customs.

Even if Customs don't catch him, the brand owners may find out what he is doing and he could end up with a civil suit that could bankrupt him.

I have only dealt with the issue of "unlicensed" products because that is urgent and I wanted to warn you. If you want more information about the hassles of dealing with overseas dropshippers let me know and I will add a post about that.

Please inform me more! Again, I'm not sure if it is unlicensed products - I read that somewhere online and I think that's what he said but can't remember for sure. But more info would be great.

Also, you're not allowed to drop ship from China at all? Or is it just because it would be an unlicensed product (if that's what he is doing - can't remember)?

Sorry DJ Whrr, I missed getting a notification that you had replied.

It is definitely legal to dropship from China. The main hazards are:
                • Finding a trustworthy dropship supplier who doesn't take your money and run.
                • Finding a dropship supplier who is not competing with you on your home turf.
                • Pacifying your customers when they suddenly discover that they have to pay duty and tax when the shipment arrives in the country.
                • Pacifying your customers when they find they have to pay international shipping rates to return the goods if they are not satisfactory. (Note: postage charges ex China are way below US rates.)
                • Financing the refunds if dozens or maybe hundreds of your customers are not happy with the product for whatever reason. (Note: Buying from a dropship suppliers is a B2B transaction and leaves you without the benefit of consumer protection laws, but your customers have that protection.)
You could avoid all of the above by importing small orders direct from reliable manufacturers in China (or other countries), keeping total control by holding a small inventory and if you have followed what I teach you will be able to count on your supplier to honor claims for unsatisfactory product.

  • unlicensed products should be prohibited. There are many other products that is fairly good, everybody can sell it. PM me if you need someone who can drop ship overseas.
