Is Blogger or Wordpress better for traffic?

Hello! Just wondering opinions here...I like how easy it is to set up Blogger blogs. So nice and easy to have your panel of blogs ready to post to and ad lots of CPA.
I do also have a main website which will allow unlimited Wordpress Blogs and I have 2 main ones on it.
The question is, I have noticed my Blogger blogs have not even ranked in Alexa yet and Wordpress blogs both have. I started them around the same time and I have really been working hard, pinging etc. Is this common or is it maybe just site content related?
Both Wordpress blogs have their own domain name, most Blogger blogs don't. Does that matter that much?

Wordpress hands down is better. You OWN your own content and no one can take that from you. With Blogger, you are locked into Google and they can take you down at any moment. Would you like your business to just disappear? Poof!

Wordpress offers unparalleled opportunities (especially when using powerful themes such as genesis) to easily customise your on page seo, so targeting your niche/keywords is far more efficient.

Having your own domain definitely helps especially if your target keywords are in that domain name.

Do you mean self hosted Wordpress blogs or free Wordpress.com blogs?

Generally, I think Blogger ranks better because it has the domain authority which a new wordpress self hosted site doesn't have.

I am talking about Word Press hosted on my cpanel main domain.

I thought for sure blogger would be better because I would assume Google crawls them quicker since they own them. Doesn't seem to be the case so far.

I have read previous answers, I didn't realize Google could mess with my Blogger blogs, they aren't anything that should be taken down, relatively wholesome, but guess it could happen...

If you're even close to being serious about this as a business then you ONLY go with self hosted wordpress blogs that like you say you set up with your own c-panel.

Yes, Google does crawl blogger faster. But then that's only for the 1st page you put up. Once your site has been crawled many times the content will be pinged and found nearly as fast.

Here's a little secret: lets say you're promoting or doing something time sensitive and you need to get crawled asap.
Make a video put it in you tube put your link below the video pointing back to your site and embed the now You Tube video on your site using the you tube code. You will get that page crawled so fast it will happen even before you're done building it. Lest we forget, G owns YT.

Yes, G pulls down blogger blogs in some cases for no apparent reason. I know a guy who G claimed he clicked his own adsense ad. They pulled his blogger blog. Pow 50 well indexed pages down the tubes.

Plus with all the plugins your self hosted word press has you will have a nearly unlimited supply of new toys to play with.

Now a days you do not have to depend on genesis ir any other themes to make your sites.

You even can choose a free theme from word press.org as google love content. So you need to stay with wp than google blogs .you get more freedom and seo is not a issue at all.

It's a no-contest, always use you own self-hosted Wordpress installations for your money sites, ALWAYS.

Use the free sites for linking purposes, and increasing your online 'spread'.
Put most of your effort into your own sites.

There are so much things to deal with when it comes to blog traffic but one thing is for sure. You can do a lot more with Wordpress. Blogger is for hobbyists bloggers only. If you're in business, Wp is the way to go.

With the countless plugins they have, Wordpress offers you a wide range of opportunities on how you can improve your site. They have every platform that will fit the purpose of your website, whatever niche you belong. Their design is also easy to navigate. They meet most, if not all requirements of how to build a quality website.

Blogger is better if you have elected to start using a no-cost blogging platform, if you need to test out a concept, only need a simple template/quick site put up, or don't need to rely on the site on a long term basis. For all other scenarios, WP is the better format for long term operations, and variety of platform options.

Id definitely go wordpress as that is what most marketers use and they offer you so many options... If your doing SEO what you can do is build some free blogs from blogger pointing to your landing page or offer page...

But you need to be building a list from day one because for instance say your offer was presented to 100 people and only 2 buy then you got that 98 people who you have lost forever as potential buyers of your product and products into the future..

You should learn from my mistake. I had a Blogger blog that I dedicated about a year to writing posts, and it eventually became successful.

It was receiving about 300,000 page views a month when I decided to sell it. Since Google doesn't allow Blogger blogs to be sold, I had to transfer the blog to Wordpress. There was some downtime. I had to worry about permalink problems. The whole process was time consuming. Additionally, I already had a custom domain name, so I had to transfer it to GoDaddy.

But just an after thought... I don't know if I would have received the phenomenal traffic in the first place if it wasn't for Blogger.

Sorry. I guess I'm not much help after all.

  • What are the TOS with google blogger insofar as marketing and sales limitations? Can one sell one's own services and products via a blogger site? Or is that not permitted?

I prefer Wordpress because you can install it on your own website and you don't need to depend on Blogspot for hosting.

Don`t forget that blogger is a google project so it does have its strenghts. it`s more about how you use one of the two than how much better is one compared to the other.

    Neither.

The quantity of traffic a site attracts has nothing to do with the CMS from which its made or (in most cases) where it's hosted.

However, Blogger isn't safe to use, because you don't own or control it yourself, and that ought to be the end of the conversation.
