So, when are you going to get a job? What do you say to this?

I tell them over and over that Im happy with the money im making and my schedule.

Then fast forward few months, they'll ask me the same thing again

I've never been asked that. I think the majority of people (some old un's and donuts excepted) have either grown up in or have some experience of the "internet" era. It's rare that someone's not connected in this day and age. Even primary school children are being given computers and free home internet connections now.

Nope, I don't get that question. But even then, there is no need to be offended by that.

even if they ask you that over and over every 3 months? It feels like as if they are saying "you're online "JOB" is bullshit, you don't really make money from that child's play"

Are you earning enough each month to pay your bills?

If so, what does it matter what other people think or say.

If not, maybe it's time to ask yourself why you aren't looking for a job... Or a way to push yourself out of your safe zone and start making some money online.

Occasionally I would get asked "Do you have a job?" by in laws and neighbors that didn't see me go to work.

I would say "I don't have a job. My employees have jobs. I have a company".

So far I've found 3 different opinions about me from the people in my neighborhood:

          1. I'm a slacker with rich parents who pay for everything I need.
          2. I inherited a lot of money in the bank.
          3. This is my favorite, I'm a drug dealer - I still don't know what gave them that idea.

What I say when they ask? I say I just light a candle in my room then dancing naked all night while singing Macarena and I'll get a stack of cash under my pillow in the morning.

If you live among the people who never even heard about online business, an honest story about what we do will sound like a bullshit, so I just give them the real bullshit.

    Who cares what they think.

The sad people are those who go to work each day to make someone else rich.

So your answer to them should be... "Why would I want to get a job and work my ass off just to make someone else rich? It doesn't make sense. I work for myself... much smarter."

If you are paying your own way, why are people asking you about getting a job? If you're paying your way and they are asking that the answer is "when are you going to get a life?" If you aren't paying your own way, it's a damned good question.

I actually do get offended.. I don't wanna tell people what I do because they won't understand it anyway. I explained what I do but the person just looked at me like I have three heads.

It amazes me how people are so narrow minded.. sure at first this "make money online thing" I was very skeptical. But I kept an open mind and looked into it.. made my fist sale reading and applying what Ive read here made that first sale then I new this "make money online thing" was real.. man people have no idea..

I'm sitting in a pub while they are working so hard. They only ask me how I have money to spend daily while I'm staying, go for a walk, go clubbing, go fishing, going abroad, go traveling, go shopping, and many free things.

As soon as I tell them, they said it's so confusion and how could one earn with minor jobs! They believe I have a rich parent. Lol!

I try not to get offended... but I won't lie, sometimes it does piss me off.

My friend once asked, "How are you paying all that money?!?!" when we talked about a high dentist bill I had (no more than $1,500, actually.) Clearly, his question had a very negative connotation or tone, considering how shocked he was.

I saw another friend last year at the gym and told him I had been working from home. Why did he have the need to immediately give me advice on finding something part-time out there? I never asked!

    Phew, rant over.

I wouldnt pay them no mind me personally because i've done been through this but now that they see that i make my full time living from Internet Marketing they don't say anything now..

Do what makes you happy, If your happy with what your doing keep doing it.. Do not let anyone bring you down, I will tell you that first hand because if i would have listened I wouldnt be where i am today and in the position i am.

You just wait tho because once they see how serious you are about this and start seeing your success they will be asking you to teach them..

  • Hey sdlive,

Even if I did get such a question, I would be inclined to remain silent. But, being pressed further I would be sorely tempted to ask that person why he wanted to know?

The more I think about it, the more I believe that is my business and my business alone.

No sir! That question would probably go unanswered!

I just tell people I am in software development, but I cannot tell them which company I work for due to product non-disclosures agreements. They look at me like I'm a secret agent...or just weird. I am okay with either conclusion. Doesn't affect my bottom line.

That is an annoying question but I don't care either way. I don't actually work right from home though. I have an offline job but come home from that job and go online and do the other stuff I am doing to eventually start making enough money to get out of the crappy job I have.

My mother never had much comment or interest when I would tell her what I am doing online. My father would laugh at me and say "its a scam or everyone would be doing it." For the most part my best friend and boyfriend have been supportive about it. On occasion my best friend will go into a whine fest and say "Why do you even bother? Your still stuck at that call center."

Comments like that bothered me in the beginning but I have been paid from a few different websites not enough to pay my bills but money is money to me. Could I be putting in more time online? Yes but its hard to when having that job that is paying the bills. I have a goal and dream though and understand it will take time and won't go anywhere unless I put my personal time into it and keep myself educated about things.

Don't get offended. These questions generally come from people who don't have the idea that "making money online" does exist. Ask them how much they earn per month and say "oooh,, you're pushing yourself just to get that amount?" . I can earn that sitting for just a few days.

I think many people think all non physical product online businesses are scams or schemes. There is a pretty big stigma about online marketing and affiliate business.

When I tell people I'm starting a new internet business or I'm doing internet marketing, I always get that "find a real job" attitude from them. They don't think it's legit and they believe I'm throwing my money in the trash and buying schemes.

Of course, this is all done with no research on their part, just what they've heard or believe.

I like to have the attitude of the "The Crazy Nasty Honey Badger" when it comes to friends and family and the Internet, or when I'm pursuing any other passion that is not understood by them.

    Look it up on YouTube.

You are the Honey Badger, you just need to do what you need to do because "Honey badger don't care"...

I'll often just drop clients if they rub me the wrong way and I don't like how they talk to me, and my family is like "how do you do that - is it self respect and self worth?"

... and I'm like no "Honey badge don't care"... and my family is like "I am serious, how do you do it?"

.. and I say, I am serious... I really don't care and I am not afraid, because life is too short and I would rather live on the street, than put up with that... and I mean that.

So your attitude could be "Remember, I don't need a job because I own my own business and I make plenty of money".... and then ask them "when are you going to find YOUR passion, start a business and stop complaining about your lame day job!?". Then every month start asking them that question first.

Honey badger tells it like it is, he don't care : )
