Hi,

Building a site is easy for me, but I've always struggled in getting the word out. What are the best places and/or method for announcing a new site?

Thanks.

Tons of different options here. You could buy some sponsored tweets, some sponsored posts / shout outs from other blogs, get yourself indexed on Google, post on blogs comments, post on forums... just takes some work!

The best places and suitable methods depend entirely upon your niche and product/service.

Icemonkey9 has some good ideas. You might want to invest in either a good paying press release or a lot of solid free press releases for your new website announcement as well. I would also try to get the word out on twitter, tumblr, linked in etc without spamming.

      ^^NO, don't do this.

Do some advertising via pay per click. Join a forum in your niche. Write articles. Do some SEO (you may want to start with this before PPC). Start your own blog. And do some social media. Also find other effective means of advertising online... such as solo ads.

YES. This is entirely true. You can read all the recommendations, but they are from people that understand how to match their offer/website/blog with the right type of traffic from the right source.

I love press releases, however, don't recommend fiverr for them. PRweb is better, but you need to pay for a good option.

Yes, if the offer matches with this type of marketing.

Don't advise against something just because you don't use it. There are plenty of offers that work GREAT with traffic exchanges and many have made quite a bit of money using them (not just owning them).

It doesn't matter if you use traffic exchanges and safelists, as what you do may not match with these methods. However, don't tell someone else these methods don't work when they might match perfectly with their offer.

To add to this I WOULD NEVER advise using PPC without a strong understanding of how it works. This is great for traffic, if you know what you're doing. If not, you could spend a ton of cash, quickly, with very few results.

I also agree with using social media and solo ads, but again, make sure these are tailored to your niche/product/offer/goal.

An additional option would be to host a wordpress blog on your site, and put content there (useful content to your niche) and submit this blog to 80+ Blog directories.

Also submit the RSS feed to another list of 90 RSS feed directories. This works wonders for long term targeted traffic.

Thank you very much for all the different types of methods for announcing my site. This information has definitely helped and give me a good starting place. I have tried press releases, but have not had much luck there. I'm not sure fiverr was the best choice there.

First of all you have to use Google Webmaster tools to get listed your site in Google. After that just try to use social Media like facebook, twitter, G+ etc to Promote your business and share your site with your friends. I hope this will help you a lot

Solo ads and social media. How about offline promotion? Business cards that you hand out to those in your niche?
I've found that by providing people with a benefit as to WHY THEY SHOULD CARE seems to do it best for me!

"Hey so-and-so, I know you were doing that whole diet plan and I wanted to say you look like you have gained some muscle and dropped a few pounds already. (Sincere compliment, not flattery) I happen to run a small fitness forum with motivated members like yourself and would be honored if you would take a few minutes one day and give them some tips. I think they would really enjoy it from someone with the right mind set. Regardless, take the website down (hand a card) and check it out one time. Maybe you could give me pointers on what to write about this week, I am low on ideas!

Make them feel powerful and they usually will do what you ask without even realizing that YOU wanted them to do it!
    Those are my strategies, anyways

Join forums on your niche and ask if they can review your site or also go to the signature section. Write articles and add your site in directories.
