Hi,

what benefits help you choose a graphic designer to work with ?

if you come into a site of a designer, how do you decide that this is the one you want to work with?

Thanks,

Shlomi

Of course, the obvious things like price and the quality of the designs that they have in their portfolio, but what's more, I like to see that they've got a big list of choices in packages, and are willing to do more custom orders because that indicates they've got great customer service. Also, a promise to have a design completed by a certain date, with some kind of benefit to me if it's not done in time (i.e. free design, or steep discount on service). I've hired a few designers that have been very late on delivery, or some whom have little interest in doing custom packages.

i think my first consideration would be, something that works with in my budget, and the works would come,-like quality of their work, creativity, uniqueness. And then the packages they offer - bonuses, perks, freebies...:-)

I would prioritize my decision in the following order
    quality of work w.r.t price
copy writing or persuation skills the designer has
    creativity
    customization
    and..
being accountable and responsible for their service until u r happy

Honestly I have seen many designers who r good at designing effects etc.. but they fundamentally miss the selling elements in a the design.

I think it would be wise to understand how comfortable and experienced to present the selling elements in their design irrespective of the market.

    hope this helps..

    Agreed.
Design is so much more than cool or loud graphics.

People tend to forget that the fundamentals of design lie in visual communication, and the language of signs involved in this.

knowing photoshop back to front and having all the effects/styles under the sun isn't enough...

Designers who take the time to learn these principles, along with other more obvious basics (shape, form, balance, etc..) will stand head and shoulders above the rest with their work.

This, tied with personal marketing savvy, and you have a killer combination.

Also, a very important thing: Attention to detail and a concept of time!
