Squidoo is cracking down on low quality lenses. Anyone here bought Squidoo WSOs, applied the steps and had their lenses locked?

You need to step away from cookie-cutter techniques and focus on using Squidoo the way it was meant to be used-TO PRODUCE QUALITY CONTENT. It doesn't have to cost much money. You just need the right strategy.

They locked lenses with thin content. You should add personal information to your lenses if you can, Squidoo likes personal stories. Otherwise, make a research and rewrite everything you’ll find in your own words.

Dump Squidoo, that is why using free sites is not a good idea.
Now thousands of marketers have built their business for them for free, they can afford to be choosy and disassociate themselves with anything they consider 'low quality'

Get you own hosting and build a website for yourself, where you control almost everything.

Honestly, Squidoo doesn't make a lick of sense to me. I have built beautifully crafted sites that took me all day to do and they pulled them down. Other sites were cookie cutter and are still up. Yesterday they locked two of my best money makers.

If there was some semblance of reason with them, I would hang around, but they are irritating the shit out of me, so I am migrating away from them, even though I have had some success there overall.

Squidoo really is irritating. I have created 82 lenses and I love creating lenses, but I saw that I was an idiot for insisting on creating them because I had many strange problems. Pictures were disappearing from my lenses, and my Twitter module stopped working even though I didn't change password or username, but their support desk never helped me.

However, Squidoo is helping me drive targeted traffic to my websites, and it’s giving me some money for a few expenses. There are positive points on creating lenses, but you should not exaggerate.

Since you were making money with your lenses, you should add a few text modules with more content and try to have your lenses unlocked, but stop creating new lenses.

Keep in mind that Squidoo is just one site of many that can preform the same function. If they are cracking down, it's probably better to move on and go with an easier site. Sometimes it really is quantity over quality in online marketing.

Review the lens, and read the SquidDon't policy and TOS. Make some amendments like changing the lens title, removing some modules that are unnecessary and removed the link to your personal blog. Then request for a greenlighting if you're curious as to why your lens was unpublished.

Probably Google told them that if they don't get their act together and get more quality lenses then they will hit them hard and knock them off their search engine. So they probably had to take some action against those lousy lenses.

This is what happened to Ezinearticles a few years ago and that was the main reason why they rejected so many articles.

I'm curious if anyone who wrote those Squidoo WSOs had any of their own lens locked?

i did use the squidazon and the other squidoo guide of sejourn for some 12 lenses, they got very quickly a good position on google and bing, started selling, but squidoo locked most of them, i mean the good ones. So i would try to use those guides for some other platform, but i do not know where...

Squidoo are a law unto themselves.

I rue the day I ever wasted my time creating quality lenses with them. And I did waste a lot of time on my 60+ lenses.

Other people liked my lenses and some of my lenses were indeed very popular. There was very little thin content - maybe on a few (definitely less than 10) of the 60+ lenses that they locked holus bolus. But by far the majority were quality, original, lenses with value to the reader.

I asked for a reconsideration (twice) and did not receive even the courtesy of a reply.

Never, never, never give Squidoo the benefit of your quality original content - that's my advice - use it only on your own sites that you control.

I would love to say what I really think of them, but I'm much too refined for that.

You took the words out of my mouth...

Although I did not have as many lenses as you, I too rue the waste of time more than anything else.

I could have spent that time adding content to my own sites.

I have just deleted all my lenses, even the ones that had no warnings on them. I don't like the way they treat people at Squidoo. Everybody deserves some respect and, at the very least, an answer to their questions.

If they're deleting all their content, I doubt if that will improve their ratings with Google.

It's not the WSOs that really show you how to meet the new quality standards on Squidoo. They want high quality and personalized content and most just talk about keyword research and picking products.

The only product I've bought that actually showed you how to write a good lens is Tiffany Dow's Squidoo Quick Commissions Guide. It talks about picking products people buy and writing content that readers will actually care about. It's now the only one I'm recommending after the new changes (unless you already know how to write great content and want a handle on the keyword research aspect of things).

None of my lenses using her instructions were locked.

Finally, one of those Squidoo WSO writers admitted in an email to her customers that her own lenses (350) got locked and deleted, and she was a giant squid. About the only thing Squidoo would be good for is if Amazon ever cut me off again just because I'm located in California.

I know someone who had 250+ quality squidoo lenses who made very respectable 5 figures from them. Squidoo decided one day to shut his entire account down.

They don't really like affiliate marketers any more.
