Advice on my autoresponder problem needed...

Right now I've got an opt-in on a site for a 7 day ecourse. Each day they get a new email, etc. and then after those messages I CONTINUE to market my main product to them.

But here is the problem I am having...

I have some customers who buy my main product during those first 7 emails yet still get marketed to after their purchase because my emails continue to go to them. I do have a customer opt-in on my "thank you" page to get them on another list, but I don't want to automatically remove them from the first list if they have not finished the first 7 parts of the series.

I hope that makes sense and you see my issue.

I've had some people already complain that they have already bought the product and wonder why I'm still trying to convince them in an email to buy it.

Thoughts or advice?

I'm pretty sure on Aweber there's a way to only send people emails if they haven't bought yet...not sure exacltly how you do it but it'll probably be in their FAQs or something.

I want to stop the emails if they have bought ONLY after the first 7 emails...if they have not bought, then I want the emails to continue of course. I don't want to remove them if they buy after just a couple of emails in the 7 part course...they may want the ecourse and the product.

I would segment them out of the sales-pitch list once they've bought that product. You could certainly move them into a list that pitches other related products, though.

An easier option, if you still want to send them the series (because it's good info) is to just say something in the sales-y messages like "If you've already purchased xxxx from me, please send me your feedback on it." or something like that...

    just my 2 cents worth.

Well, for one, you should offer more information beyond the 7-day course. No one likes to be sold to that much, even if they haven't bought. Just my 2 cents.

As for your question, you should have the course on one list by itself. No other emails go to this list! On the last email of the course you should offer them a membership to your "newsletter". If they like you, they will opt in and you can try and sell them your product. You may be worried about losing precious subscribers, but I've got news for you. If they don't opt-in to receive more free info beyond the course, they certainly won't buy squat from you. So let them leave - your conversion rates will thank you .

Excellent idea TheCren. Of course I offer more info past the 7 part ecourse, it's not just marketing/promotion emails. My point was to not continue to market my product they may have already purchased.

    Thanks!

Okay good! Haha I hoped so after seeing that you've been a Warrior since September '04.
