Can amazon affiliate (program) be a source for good money?

When amazon affiliates get started, they get commissions 4% from product selling price on it at first (it may be raised up to 10% later) but I guess it is (very) low, so, can I generate income over a few thousands $ per month?

What kinds of items would be promoted for very good money?
And Do I need to choose niches then make websites for them with articles & SEO?

It is best to promote products that are highly priced! Promoting them with a website and also writing articles is a really good way to promote products! There was a guy who brought a new car just off amazon commission! I hope that be your motivation! Hope this helps!

Promote high priced items to get the best returns but look for some cheap add-ons to increase the sale. The increases in percentage commissions depend on number of items sold

There are pros and cons of being an Amazon affiliate

The Pros are the huge trust factor that Amazon has as an online retailer, Amazon are experts at selling and up selling so once you get your visitor to Amazon they do the selling for you. Whatever the customer buys at Amazon pretty much you get a commission on. Low barrier entry to becoming an affiliate - pretty much whoever applies gets approved within 24 hrs.

The negatives - the 24hr cookie and the the low commissions.

So in my opinion there are more reasons for than against become an Amazon affiliate.

Making thousands is achievable but there are no instant riches with Amazon, you will need to build and keep on building to see any decent results.

Amazon is a wicked place to start. Yeah, the criticism is that the commission percentage is too low. HOWEVER, the conversions on Amazon are through the roof. If you pick a good product that has social proof (positive reviews) it can be quite easy to make some sales.

At some point, you may want to venture off into affiliate programs in the digital space, where commissions can be much higher. But as a starting point, Amazon associates is easily one of the best places to start earning an on-line income.
