Ezinearticles is still one of the best, no matter what guidelines they set up. You could try putting your articles on content sharing sites like:

    Squidoo.com
    Hubpages.com
    Qassia.com
    Wetpaint.com
    Knol.Google.com

I've observed that Articlesbase.com is a very good site and articles here tend to be indexed pretty high and fast by Google....

I agree there are many out there but at the same time Ezine articles are best.
Google loves them and that is something we just have to accept.

    There is GoArticles.com
    Articlebase.com

but I think you should consider shaping up your articles so ezinearticles will accept them.

Doesn't articlebase.com no-follow all the links in the resource box? I could have sworn that was why I stopped submitting to them.

Gotta add my bit for goarticles.com too. I also use a paid membership article site called website-articles.net. The ebook you get when you join, on doing articles, is really good!

I have to second goarticles. High PR and you don't have to wait until your articles are approved.

If you are looking to get links from your articles be aware that Articlebase is definitely nofollow.

I think I've heard that different sites tend to rank better for different niches. I still get pretty good search results for the weight loss niche from goarticles for articles that I wrote over a year ago.

I also use Exclusive Article Marketing Community which has a lot of good features. As a member site, it doesn't need to get money from adsense, so there isn't any, which can mean a higher clickthrough rate. You can also add tracking and videos and photos and so on. At least, I think this is all still true. It's been awhile since I had time for articles with a newish baby.

    Love,

Sweetie, as Mr. Phil Knight, the owner of EZinearticles.com is wont to say, "There is no alternative to Ezinearticles.com"

    All the best dear,

Ezine Articles is one of the best articles directory to submit your articles and get views and back links. Their guide lines are truly a pain. To establish your name over there you need to work real hard.

I would suggest to check out the alternatives too. I have been publishing my articles regularly at Article Base. It's more Author Friendly articles directory.

Do a google search for top article submission directories - it'll show directories by page rank to show importance as well.

    Just so everyone knows...

I have seen 2 posts in the last couple of days which commented on both Mr. Phil Knight and Mr. Mike Knight.

If you are referring to the owner and CEO of Ezinearticles.com, you should know that his real name is Mr. Chris Knight. You may gain a bit more credibility if you get his name right.

    Respectfully,

Well, since E-zine is so popular and getting good traffic, guess you should try to be following the guidelines. I have just signup with them and submitted my first article and it is going through some obstacles as it is yet to be approved. I made correction according to their request and still waiting for approval.

Though I am running my own article directory, I still like to send articles in others. I have tried Articlebase.com though not much traffic.

I agree about following the guidelines, but it is kind of intimidating, now I have to go over everything i wrote with a fine tooth comb so i don't get in trouble, and i'm only just starting out, so i was hoping to avoid getting bogged down on time consuming projects like this

Maybe neslo1963 answered the question, but my question is how many article directories should you be submitting to in order to make it worth your while?

Even with the changes and their guidlines, E-zine is still out performing the other directories for me.

Looking at the responses about the difficulties some are having with getting accepted, you may just take the time to review their guidelines.

Out of my last 27 articles submitted only 1 was rejected and it was a stupid error on my part.

Anybody want to share any issues they are having?

      Paul

I still prefer ezinearticles, so I won't call this an alternative, but the site in my signature has been online since 2005, was ranked around 75,000 yesterday by Alexa ( usually at around 100,000 ) and is starting completely over due to heavy spamming. I just changed the script yesterday and couldn't save the articles because it wasn't practical to go through the tens of thousands. So, it's an opportunity to get your article seen on the homepage since there's only a few articles. Hopefully without all the spam the site and articles will start getting ranked higher soon. I'll be working on that part.

Personally, I've never went wrong with EzineArticles but have had pretty good experiences with GoArticles and Hubpages in the past. GoArticles was actually the first article submission site I ever started using, and it treated me pretty well until I was enlightened about EzineArticles. Only problem with Hubpages is that they can be really finicky about commercial Hubs, and they just don't have the same kind of Google clout as their stronger competitors.

I've also heard of a lot of people doing well putting up Squidoo lenses as a form of article marketing. They take a bit more development to be validated, but when they get strong they're pretty effective...I have one I haven't even touched in the better part of a year that trickles in a $25-75 Clickbank check every so often. That's not exactly buildling a fortune, but the point is that it has tremendous staying power and STILL gets some traffic after nearly a year of inactivity. Imagine if you really devoted a lot of time and attention to a Squidoo campaign...

I still have to say though, EzineArticles is really the best one I've personally used. Their guidelines are more intimidating than they are constricting, the types of articles they have trouble with probably won't be your best earners anyways so it's a good idea to just meet their requirements and enjoy what the site can do for you.

    Thanks for everyones contributions.

I have not done article marketing on a regular basis, but would like to know what kind of click throughs the regulars achieve on average. Also, do you market your article URL's ?

    Thanks.

Well, for awhile when I was churning them out professionally, it was expected for the articles I put up on EA to get a 20% clickthrough for me to get paid the full price per article...and that really wasn't too difficult a shooting point; I managed it relatively often, moreso as they floated there for a couple weeks.

A lot of it has to do with how talented the article writer was. I'm decent, and probably wouldn't say any more than that, and I pulled down 20%s at least 40% of the time as time went on...someone who's really skilled at copywriting and knows what buttons to press on his/her readers can get better bang per article. I should also note that my articles weren't highly keyword-targeted for maximum search engine traffic either...that could make a large difference as well.

To the second question, I never did market the article URLs. They were always the "funnel" that caught the traffic and sent it to the main page, not promoted in their own right. I suppose it's up to your personal preference though...a network of articles could work, I just always found a simple "funnel" model to be easier to work.

I have written five articles for EA and all five were approved within a reasoable time period. I have not complaints. However, I am not in the league with those heavy hitters. All of this discussion is interesting and the various suggestions are helpful.
    This is a great forum.

Thing is though... different article directories are good for different things. EzineArticles can get you good traffic and sales, but submitting to other directories can get you some extra backlinks (not necessarily direct visitors) :-)

I personally haven't had any issues so far.

    Have they changed something recently?
