Quality Email List Rental??? does it exist?

Hey everyone. I got a quote for email list rental which works out at around 15 cents an email, (sent by them not me in AUD too). From US Data services, they look legit and have good reviews that I have seen. Very expensive, however has anyone used a service like this? I would never buy a list and send it through my own system as that is spam and asking for trouble. However they claim to achieve a 5-11% click through, which seems good. Any tips about this kind of service as far as bang for buck goes?

Also, has anyone tried the targeted lists as opposed to general lists. The targeted are more than double the price.

Any thoughts or suggestions or experience with this would be awesome as it is a significant expense.

Thanks

Not sure how "email list rental" works but I would imagine it to be similar to how solo ads work.

If the list was as "Quality" as they say, why would they rent it? Surely they could make a killing sending out their own promotions?

You mean swap my list for use of another persons? What if you don't have a list to swap? Hugs maybe! No serious is there any other option like share of earnings etc. how would you initiate that. Just email blog owners?

      Thanks

Just do a small test, like $500 and then you have your own data.

Whether it works for your product or service depends on the offer, the ad, the landing page and then on their list. An untargeted list only makes sense for general audience offers. But again you have to test yourself.

As far as pricing is concerned: It should usually be quoted as CPM cost per 1000 emails and everything $1 to $1.50 and below is good for testing. Negotiating helps a lot. Rates of $0.40 or so for general audience lists are possible.

You should make sure that you know exactly what list it is. Is it from a free horoscope site? is it from a funny pictures site etc. That way you can adjust your ad and the landing page.

If the list is for example a recipe list and you want to sell investments you will most likely lose your shirt but selling cook books to the same list might make you a lot of money.

With some larger mailers you can also negotiate CPA deals, meaning you would pay for results. The main thing for that: you need a larger budget.

If you try to get a good deal but your total budget is only a few thousand dollars you are probably out of luck. If your budget is $50k and up per months: now you are talking and you can get all kinds of deals.

Thanks, seems to get cheaper around the 5k spend level. But I just had a thought. Maybe I'll do $500 trial run, with the arrangement of paying the reminding 4500 if roi is high enough. Should be able to negotiate that I imagine.

Also, a good point was raised about why don't they just send their own deals? Can anyone answer that? It seems that getting thousands off people to rent the list seems like a good enough business model to make a legit business. Any thoughts ?
