I must confess when it comes to RSS feeds I'm a total newbie. I always add them to my directory sites, but finding them is a nightmare. I'll search for, ex. 'PA legal news RSS' and may come up with 1 or 2 good feeds, but it would really be nice to have a directory of URLs.

I use feedzilla which is really nice, but anyone know of any others?

Also, a lot of them will be XML instead of rss. How do I convert that so I can put it on my websites?

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jenny

What CMS your site is running on? Also could you please show a few examples of XML (non-Atom/RSS) feeds you want to syndicate?

There is one and only advantage: Really Simple Syndication.

I'm using WP (sorry, should have mentioned it!). This list shows different feeds and they're like most of the ones I've been finding. They're not urls that I can put into my WP widget.

RSS - The New York Times

        Thanks!

RSS - The New York Times - this is a list of standard RSS feeds which can be parsed by any RSS aggregator.

I would suggest you to try this one: WordPress › CyberSyn « WordPress Plugins - it's a very light and fast freeware plugin for WordPress with a bunch of cool features, such as YouTube video RSS support, image caching, built-in TBS (The Best Spinner) integration etc.

RSS feeds add updated newsfeeds automatically - you don't have to do anything. They're also useful for people visiting your site (if you have the right feed). That's why I like them for my directories.

There are loads of plugins to use, both paid and free, many of the free ones are very useful in one or more ways. This just depends on what you want to do with the feed in the first place.
I don't use them for backlinks,I think thats going out the door. But to get you feeds pinged does seem to have a positive and quick affect,so thats how I go about doing things with rss.
I don't need any plugins for it tho as I end up with a lot of plugins on my blog and too many is never a good idea.
anyway, good luck with finding the answer...
