Hello all,

Love the site, I have been reading like crazy for the past hour just trying to soak up all the information I can. I own a small business and am looking for ways to become more visible online, any information that anyone is willing to offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome Britton I suggest you Get Paul's Handy Little Guide to the Warrior Forum

Also You should join the WarRoom

After you sign up for the War Room, keep your credit card in your wallet for a while, don't get carried away by the first shiny new object you see.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

I'm sorry this is off-topic but thanks for thanking people. I was just noticing that on the Forum there are people who've been members for years who have only punched the "Thanks" button 2 or 3 times. So I decided to go on a gratitude spree. Shelley Owens
I thought the link was great, too.

RobinInTexas - Thank you for the advice, I have already joined the War Room and I will for sure read the guide, thanks!

mstrmindmktng - I do have a website, and though it is aesthetically pleasing, I doubt it is super efficient for marketing and SEO purposes. Take a look if you'd like, NewLookSurface.com. Thank you for your help, I will definitely check out WordPress!

Sowens - Thank you for the welcome and advice, I need all the help I can get. I own a reglazing and surface refinishing company in Los Angeles, never have done much marketing but I have always been extremely intrigued by the process. My website is NewLookSurface.com and thank you again for offering to help. I didnt expect to get so many replies so soon.

Lincher - Thank you for the pointers and places to start. I see how it would be very easy for someone to jump from one topic to the next without actually absorbing anything, there is so much to read here. And I have always been very interested in mobile marketing, especially push notifications, and will be reading and taking your advice to heart while doing so, thank you again.

Your site really is nice looking. Very, very attractive.

I see it's a Wix site using a mix of Ajax and JSon. One thing I noticed when doing a Google search is that I spelled countertops and bathtub as one word. Your metatags have them as 2 words so, for misspellers like me you may want to add the one-word version, too.

Google crawls text, not pictures or icons. I would put the contact information in text. I'm inclined to think Google will like you more if you have the name, address and phone number on the index page or at least in the text you used when creating the page.

As someone else who "has a lot to learn," I do not fully understand Google's instructions for Ajax page optimization but here's their website https://developers.google.com/webmas...etting-started

And, if you haven't done so already, submit your website to Google. I was making a video about this earlier and still haven't finished. The Googlebot will crawl your page and give you helpful hints on how to optimize it for search.

What you are looking for is Fetch as Google. Google has been a moving target recently -- they keep changing pages without taking the old sites or instructions down. See if the following page works for you. Overview ? Submit your content ? Google
I could not get it to work earlier; Private Message (PM) me if it doesn't work or try Places for Business ? Google. That will take longer but you need to register in Places, anyway.

I'll post more later. This message took so long you have probably wondered if I've disappeared. Shelley Owens

Signing up for this forum was a good start. Do you have a website yet? If not, you can get started with one relatively inexpensively. You have to register a domain name, get hosting, WordPress and a theme. WordPress is a great CMS (Content Management System) for beginners on to advanced alike. There are many resources to help you get it going. Hope this helps, and good luck!

    Welcome!

I know what you mean - I have not been very active and I have learned so much today just getting out there reading the threads and asking questions.

Make friends here; they will help you immensely. If your business site is not listed in your profile, post it here and I'll see if I can make a few suggestions on some things you can do.

We are basically online internet marketers (IM) and offline marketers (although offline marketers need to be pretty astute with online marketing, too, or have great friends;o)

If you have a small local business, I may a number of suggestions for you. If you are an IM, I'll help you locate threads that may help.

    Definitely check these 2 sub-forums:
Offline Marketing Discussions - to help you get more sales offline; after all your online visitors will become offline customers unless you run ecommerce.

Mobile Marketing - because mobile phone traffic is higher than computer traffic and is specially beneficial for local businesses.

Try to avoid other sections for a while and not get into information overload. It is a state when all you want to do is keep consuming more and more information. It may sound stupid but this trap affected a lot of people.

Do not just read; but note key ideas that you learn and apply them to your business. This way you can at least earn more money rather than waste more time.

    Britton -

    A few things:

    1)Welcome

2)You have a lot to learn.

3)Don't let the fact that you have a lot to learn stop you from diving in and taking action.

My simple advice would be to ask specific questions, don't be afraid to look silly, and remember one thing:

You don't really have to know at this point how to get from point A to point B, but make certain that you GET to point B.

    Make sense?

    Good luck.

Makes perfect sense, and I might steal that quote and place it in my office. Thank you for the advice and support, looking forward to diving into this stuff.
